Giant Rincon for $100?
Not necessarily want to flip it, but I'm getting bike fever again and want something to tide me over until I find something better. This would be short trips and bike rides of 20 miles. As an added bonus, I thought maybe I could try real maintain biking. We have many mountain bike parks/trails in Chattanooga and if anyone could comment (constructively) on whether these could handle easy to moderate mountain bike riding, that would be great.

I'll take the sellers word that they are the size he says they are..I'm 5'10 with a 33 ish inch inseam. I'm guessing the smaller might be better if I'm going to go off road?

I would pass, the frame itself is pretty good, nothing bad or remarkable. Those are mid level parts. I think you are better off with a frame much bigger for your 33 inseam.

Are they 24" wheels? Something about that looks very small.

I think you could find better for the price. In my opinion this bike has more potential as a commuter/grocery getter than actual mountain bike.

I look at new bike purchases as how much fun I can have for that much money. I would ride it and see how it feels. If it's something I would enjoy riding it won't take long to have $100 worth of fun compared to anything else.
I would not however buy it for $100 and take it to a bike shop for a $200 tune up looking for a bargain bike. I buy cheap bikes because I can service them myself cheaply, and I have learned how to evaluate the condition of a bike before purchase.
If the bike fits it will handle a lot of trails. It would handle about anything I would want to ride at 56 years old. It would not be a good choice for the extreme type trails developed for modern mountain bikers who have no sense of mortality. It would be more suited to dirt roads in a national forest than actual purpose-built MTB trails.

I don’t think that’s 21.5, looks more like 19” if I recall those are measured center bb to top of seat post binder. That does not look much taller than the 18” Rockhopper I have in the shed.
