Lightweight casual shoes?

I'm looking for something in a casual style that goes with shorts or pants just to wear out to a meal or to walk around the town (not for actual riding). I'll be in the central CA coast in June, so it'll be mild/warm. Style-wise at home, I like skate-style Converse, trail shoes, Vans, and the like but they are sort of dense for bike packing. Thanks.

Sandals. I do not carry shoes. I ride, hike, even got to 3-star Michelin restaurants, in Tevas

I usually take waterproof Merrill hiking shoes for off-bike use. But if I was going someplace warm where it probably would not rain often like you are, I might consider deck shoes instead.

I usually bring sandals for shower shoes or for wear around the campsite, but as Gauvins noted, they could be used for other purposes. Sometimes I have worn sandals in a campsite when it was warm out.

+1 for sandals. You'll be in California in the summer. When in Rome...
