Who's attending the Lancaster Covered Bridge Metric in 2011?

Well several years ago we had a big BF turn out for the Lancaster CBM and then it seemed to get smaller the next couple of years. Last year I had back surgery so I couldn't do it...no idea how many did but this year I'm back and my wife signed up as well.

Anyone else planning on going this year?

Yea, I checked the thread to read all the chatter, but nothing. Rode the half metric for 3 years in a row, could never get to start early enough to join the BF group. For myself I stopped with the organized rides when they raised their rates, and in some cases quality of post ride lunch was down. LCB always had no snack watering stops and poor lunch. I've also come to realize where I live has better roads, more shade, even a couple of covered bridges if that's important, and best of all, free. So no I'm not planning on riding.

I gave up on that ride a few years ago after having done it over a dozen times. They have added water stops over the years and there have been some changes to the route, but I just got tired of it. As riding in Lancaster County goes, it's not the best of routes. They have been serving the same things for lunch since I first did it back in the early 90s. It's like the film "Groundhog Day." And when it's 90+ degrees out, it's just no fun with the lack of shade. I am close enough to Lancaster County that I can ride there on my own terms. And now you have to pre-register and risk losing the $ if the weather is crappy.

And it's the same day as the Reston Century in the DC area this year.

I'm on the fence. I skipped it last year, partly due to nagging injuries and partly due to being a little fed up with the number of riders. I understand they're limiting the registrations now, it makes this tempting...

Doesn't look good for me making it this year. Wish I could though, as I still consider this one of my favorite events to ride.

Last day to register is today. So I am registered. I'll have to see how the end of August goes with moving students, etc.

Lack of chatter and extending the registration sounds like turn out will be down. May be only 2000 bikes.

I'd prefer it a bit less crowded.

I've done it a few times. Way too many Lance wannabes and people riding pelotons. I don't think I have been back since someone was killed launching himself over the handlebars taking a turn way to friggin fast.

Plus it is a long trip for me requiring a nights stay. After doing it a few times, I am not interested again.

I am signed up for the Covered Bridge ride. Probably riding solo. Perhaps meet up?

Unfortunately it's the same day as the Philly LiveStrong Challenge, so I'm out.

This weekend...I'm still not certain of anything, but I think my schedule is cleared.
