Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Checking my inbox, I see an email with the title "Controversial Wait(sic) Loss Diet Is Too Good To Be True!"

So I didn't open it, because if they say it's too good to be true, I'm willing to believe them.

Top half of the first inning at Petco Park, and they've already tossed one player, one skipper, and one fan.

I guess not. The tandem won, so maybe TT v. tandem will be the next contest?

Worth noting that they chose Conor, the absolutely least aerodynamic of the presenters, on a regular road bike.

Now, what about a TT Tandem?

What's not clear to me is whether or not the tandem advantage decreases when you add hills to the equation.

Depends on how well the riders work together and if they are great climbers to start. Tandems have won hilly events.

Our tandem only has rim brakes so we FLY down hills. Have to use them sparingly or smoke the pads til there's no option to brake anymore.

We did OK on climbs. I put the cranks out of phase to see if that helped. It felt better to me but didn't seem faster.

Morning and evening inversion activity achieved. Paid bills, reviewed medical activity and emailed insurance company about difference in amount spent towards maximum out of pocket. Ate lunch then napped not much else. Rained most of the day eliminating any chance to mow lawns. Rain expected through Tuesday.

Cycling content: I wish.

I know from observation on century rides, that they're a lot faster downhill, but slower uphill. Not sure how it balances out, all other things being equal versus a single.

Did it ever occur to you that if you did all the mowing at once you could go a week or more without having to mow again?
