Trying to source a Fortified bike light battery

note that I mean the battery and not the bike light itself. could anyone suggest any stores that might have a Fortified bike battery on the shelves? the Fortified company has gone out of business, so I can't order from them. did locate a retailer in Japan but they won't sell me a battery, only lights.

please don't tell me what I will find that hard to find. I know that already.

What does "fortified" mean?

And how can anyone give you advice without knowing which light you own, and what type of battery it takes? Is Fortified a brand or something? Provide a link.

"Fortified" (capital F) is a brand.

exactly. I wouldn't've capitalized the word otherwise.

I googled just to see what a Fortified light is/was.

This was one of the first links presented in the search. Maybe it'll be helpful to you...

thank you for this. I didn't find this on my search, probably because I concentrated on buying such a battery (in leftover stock, etc.) versus, in effect, constructing one. I know that I don't have the technical ability or coordination (I have a disability called dyspraxia that affects this) but I will look into the possibility of getting someone at the local maker space to do it for me, if it wouldn't cost too much. I'd probably attempt it but the article warns safety risks when you mess about with batteries.

again, thank you! it surprises me that I missed this.

There are companies that rebuild rechargeable battery packs, like the ones for cordless drills. it's not cheap, though.

For a small handlebar light, like the one referenced above, it's not worth fixing. The new LED lithium lights are way brighter for the same power, and the newer lithium batteries are better designed, and last for a lot of charge-discharge cycles. I see Fortified had a kickstarter in 2014. 150 or 300 lumens. $60. Sounds like you got a good lifespan out of the light, but it's time to get a new light.

I like at least 350 lumens. 500 lumens or more is better.
For example: my Cygolite Dash 550 is really nice:
The battery is still good after 3 or 4 years.
The triple flash mode is great for daytime riding: even in bright mid-day sun, it's eye catching from a long distance, and this flash mode lasts for at least 10 or 15 hours (I never timed it, I recharge after a few rides of 2-4 hour each). The steady beam works great in evening or night riding. And it has a low power flash mode that's nice on bike trails.

I was really interested when I saw that instructables, but it seems a bit too hinky for my tastes. I have a light that has replaceable lights and it would be nice to be able to make replacements.
I demand reliability from my lights, that's why some of them are in storage cases and not on a bike, because I lost faith in them after others reported problems.
