Help identifying old Peugeot

Saw this on eBay and needed some help identifying it. With the level of visible rust not certain I want to get into that again but it certainly does look interesting. thanks!

from what can be seen in the ghastly images appears to be a model U08 from the 1971-72 time

Ah, cool , thanks. Not sure it is worth the effort involved it is $50...so there is that.

If you have affordable access to parts and do your own work, it might be a decent enough project, although the price may be a bit steep for the condition.

I really like my 1970 UO-8, which rides much better than it has any right to, as an entry-level frame. I did build mine from a bare frame, so it has always had aluminum cranks and rims and Japanese derailleurs, which are the three best upgrades you can make.
