Panasonic DX5000 + Trek 560 Pro Series

I recently have had a great experience using the forums and thought I'd share. I recently came up on a '87 Trek 560 Pro Series for $100 (arguably a bit pricy, but I liked the color and use to have a family Trek that got stolen. The next week I grabbed a 80s Nishiki International (tange#1 tubing, cyclone group). I kept the cyclone components and sold the frame to another forum member for a reasonable price. The next week I grabbed a Panasonic DX5000 with tange#1 tubing and full shimano 600 components for $65! The DX5000 had a problem with the locking cup and I couldn't get the dang thing loose. Went to the hard ware store to grab a bolt and washers, as suggested by the mechanics forum, but Home Depot sucked and didn't have anything that would work. Further more, I was using an adjustable wrench, which really really sucked! I called up the forum member I sold the Nishiki frame, and he invited me over to work on it. He had the know how and right tools and boom, swopped out the bottom bracket and now the Panasonic is working great! So now I got two great bikes, the Trek 560 and the DX5000, and a homie near by with a pretty extensive bike workshop. I know this is what forums are all about, but wow, feeling the love here Cheers!

Nicely done. I'm going to need some convincing to believe $100 is pricey for the Trek in San Jose.

You stole that Trek! I paid $180 for my '87 at a pawn shop and was thrilled to get it. They are sweet bikes.
