I got a screen capture of the K&N ad when I was surfing foo.
I personally don't care. I have a K&N on two of my vehicles, and it works great. When the air filter in our Explorer needs replacing, it'll also get a K&N unless I can find an ITG filter that will fit it.
I'd bet the car-free forum regulars already have their knickers in a twist.

Well, I can't say that it's a bad thing. The MPG on my pickup went from 11-12 city to a solid 14 city, and from 14 highway to 17 highway with the addition of a K&N. I know on my Mazda the highway gain was downright unbelievable, from 25 no matter what to right about 32. Granted that also came when I changed the plugs, but I know the K&N had a dramatic difference.
However, now I get unlimited MPG on my bikes, and can't say I miss driving. Last night I had to drive to run some errands, and really really wished I would have been on a bike. OH well

Hey, can't nock K&N filters, keeps particulates out of the system, and I breath easier... when I wear one, I swear that I am getting 10 to 20 watts more. Helps me drop those brats on BMXs, you know... when I get the look.

This is unreal.
The BF owners must be raking in some big $$ for those ads !!
All we need is to be sucked into the intake of a hummer with a K&N filter for this to blow up in their faces...

I can tell you that they're probably pulling in less than $600 a month from all the ads. I can also tell you that $600 a month wouldn't even cover the hosting costs of a site that gets as much traffic as this place does.

As long as they're supporting this very fine forum so I can keep enjoying it I say hurray for K&N and all the other ads showing up on my screen and I support them as well. I have Fire Fox but I have not disabled the ads. I want to support the companies supporting this forum.

Since I dont own a car and hence have no reason for a K&N air filter (besides the fact it would take 6 weeks to get here) the ads aren't really doing anything for me and there are really really annoying.

I have personally been using K&N filters (both air and oil) in all my cars for over 25 years and I think their the best. In fact when I use to live in the Mojave Desert area of Calif and went through my first sand storm, the K&N stopped ALL the sand from getting pass the filter...but my neighbors and friends cars paper elements did not. Their also the only filter company to come up with a filter that not only worked but was field cleanable and lasted way longer between cleanings then any other filter company could come up with for the M1 Abrams tank which was important for fighting in desert areas of world.
Plus the air filters improve your fuel economy and power; the oil filters clean oil better then any filter on the market and are built to last.
So if you own a car or motorcycle and want the best filtering system and want to improve your fuel economy and increase your horsepower a tad then take a look at the ad and think about getting one for your stuff.

Considering the pollution in most big cities, maybe breathing through a K&N filter might not be a bad idea?
edit: a few years back,I actually remember an ad in a British motorcycle mag for a facemask filter. It looked like a bandana over your mouth/nose when worn and had a charcoal screen of summat in the front. Any Brits ever see these on the street?
