I wasn’t raised with MTV. Had to watch nite-flights on Friday nights.
I was watching a compilation of Brit hits of the 80s when this popped up.
anyway, enjoy…..

One of those guys is on a bike with safety levers. Poser. The other guy might be legit.
I've read that both Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck were amateur bike racers in their teens. In the 1980s, Clapton picked up a Cinelli Supercorsa from the factory. Don't know what Jeff Beck's bike was.
Ginger Baker had planned a career as a professional bike racer, but then he happened to sit behind a drum set at a party and discovered that he could play.
Edit: closer to the All Mod Cons era, here's Kraftwerk:

I have questions:
if those were sirens, would you leave your lunch and bolt?
what race stops for lunch?
mighty trophy for two participants.

"Safety levers" is Mr. Weller hisself. Guess the Style Council voted that this was permitted as long as his jersey passed muster.
Another trivia point:
Elvis Costello (Declan MacManus) had a custom-made Bob Jackson (which I doubt had any turkey levers)

There used to be an awesome vid of Caterina Caselli singing Sono Bugiarda in a car driving through the pro peloton in the mid 60s. It was on u tube until RAI made them pull it.

And speaking of Kraftwerk, as a fan and as a surf guitarist, these guys are ticking all my boxes recently:

Yeah, those guys were the real deal. Ralf and Florian were avid cyclists:

A bike racer friend of mine was the stage manager in Smokey Robinson's touring organization in the '80s. He always took his Pinarello along in the tour bus. For residencies such as at a Las Vegas venue, he got to do rides of four or five hours every day.
After he left that job, I told him that, between his experience in tour support and his cycling stats (won numerous time trials and road races throughout the mid-Atlantic circuit), he should go to a Kraftwerk concert and ask for a job.
If I'd thought of it, I'd have mentioned the jokey job application written up by Buster Keaton, a huge baseball fan, in the 1920's for his film company:
O Can act
O Can play baseball

Here are some photos taken during the Style Council's "My Ever Changing Moods" video shoot.
The images were scanned from the "My Ever Changing Moods" sheet music book published by Warner Bros. Publications Inc. in 1984.

Weller's shift in the video is a little less than smooth....... but I suppose he is lip-syncing at the same time, so.....

Wow, Paul's cranks are "Mexico'd"
And Tim Pope. Good find! Never knew his name but through his IMDB, he lists at least 7 people who are either clients or in my list of top 20 friends.

I confess, I knew nothing of this side of Paul Weller until now.
