I watched a bunch of it last year. Great racing, but they just didn't seem to have the same punching power/explosiveness, and poor bike handling was a thing.

Yesterday's Peacock coverage was horrible for the Femmes, Phil acted like Megan Guariner wasn't there and constantly talked over or just kept asking "Bob, what do you think....".. I'm taking it Phil just isn't used to having a 3rd person on commentary. Bob to his credit tried to get Megan more involved in the commentary.
Thank goodness today they are using the international feed which is so much better.
And how could they think not starting in Paris was a good idea?

Also looks like a sprinter has no chance of holding yellow next year because stage 1 is going to medium mountain stage starting in Italy
Now as an off topic thing, I would love to see the Olympics have a 8 day tour but with countries placing teams instead of professional teams.

I'm new to watching pro cycling so please enlighten me. With the tour and olympics so close, does that make both less competetive as top riders are split between the two? Or will it mostly the classics riders that choose to hop over to olympics leaving gc and kom about the same?

I watched it for 10 minutes then thought about how I just spent like 5 hours a day watching the tour for the last 3 weeks and nope'd the **** out.

I think part of the success of the TdF Femmes has been because it comes right at the end of the TdF Hommes. People get excited and are paying attention and then afterwards there's a bit of a lull in the men's schedule. Perfect timing, IMHO.

There is a ton of symbiosis when the men and women races are run in similar venues and there can be a carryover of spectators, incidental viewership, resources, etc.

The women seem, on the whole, rather conservative and cautious about burning matches. I sympathize because that's how I am, but it does make for somewhat unexciting TV. I wonder how much of this is due to uncertainty about the true performance envelope of female WT cyclists, among the athletes, coaches, and other authorities.

To me it seems that even though NBC has exclusive in USA they don't care. it's not like they spent much in promoting it. I believe I heard it mentioned exactly once in the broadcast of the men's TdF.
I noticed that the women seem to need more practice and coaching on paceline dynamics. I do like watching.

However, a lot of it depends on the nature of the Olympic course. If the course doesn't suit a certain style of cyclist, they, obviously won't target it.
