This Merckx was rather ratty with onsetting rust

Paint touched up and rebuild as a retro gravel / roubaix bike. Front fork is a modded 26" SR Suntour fork.

Wow! I got distracted by the new rims. You replaced the fork with a suspension fork and matched the color and fade so well I didn't see it at first. Great job. Nice bike overall too.

What fork is that? It doesn't look like the Rock Shox Paris-Roubaix SL.

It's a SR Suntour DuoTrack but with all canti bits chopped off and repainted to match the frame.

The brake is fitted to a hole in the fork brace. It's pretty stiff so I'm not expecting problems. It's a similar concept to the Rock Shox Roubaix forks that were developed of off the Mag 21 series for roadbike use (mid to late nineties).

This one came to me as a frame and an assortment of parts. Took some sourcing from all over the globe but we got back to where she should be.

thanks for the compliment My DIY store has run out of black zip ties but as the bike has some grey color, it doesn't bother me that much. If I do find black zip ties, I will install them.

beautiful job!

maybe its just perspective but that bar sure looks to have a whole lotta reach

did you select it specifcally for your needs or is it the OEM?

Thanks! It's an ATAX Philippe bar that came on another PX-10 I had, it does have a bit of reach but should be fine as the bike is on the smaller side of what I prefer. Will know for sure once I'm able to get some miles on it.

Rescued as an unknown bike

Before spraying paint removals.

Pretty close to what I want except no decal and 2 inch too large. Ryan

My latest project: 1988 Bianchi Brava custom resto-mod. Road bike to single-speed streetfighter conversion. This will be a fun street bike to use around town. Super comfortable and light. Custom pearl white & red paint, flatbar, half-link chain, black rims, red tires, 105 brakes, Salsa chainring, Oury grips, vintage Bianchi saddle. Love how it turned out!

Love the color scheme! Bet that pearl white really pops in full sun.

The "Old Nago" is back from some repair work in Indianapolis to mitigate frame damage. Before pictures:

Rust bloom on underside of top tube

Rust damage to BB shell

More of the rust blooms

And now some of the after pictures:

The shell after serious sandblasting and refinishing

There is a small dent on the stay that still shows. But the folks at PKI do some nice detail work cleaning up the frame prior to coating

The coat is nice enough that the lug detail shows clearly

Even matching bottle cage

The rust blooms are not even able to be seen after the PKI treatment

It will be fun to see what happens to this one now that it has passed it's 50th birthday. Smiles, MH

dutch bike light resto

Enjoyed tearing this down, cleaning it up, and reassembling. There's something very theraputic in making an old bike roadworthy again, but more than just fixing flats, to make it a lot better than it was before. Doesn't have to be like new.

A 2005 Bianchi ML3 Alloy, in GOLD.

I suspect the previous owner (who I never met, a friend picked this up for me) was too big for this bike, but it should fit my girlfriend quite well. Shortened the stem from 110mm to 80mm, dropped the seat post, adjusted the loose headset and moved some spacers around, changed the bar and shifters angles, swapped out the Veloce triple cranks and square-taper bottom bracket for a Mirage Ultra Torque compact double
