Terry Hershey & George Bush Park Safety

The 10 mph speed limit signs have been removed. They started coming down about 2 months ago but since it is now in the newspaper I assume it is "official".

Harris County replaces trail speed limits with broader safety message for all park users (houstonchronicle.com)

TH is a multi-use path so it is on all users to operate safely. As the operators with the highest kinetic energy, it is on us cyclists to make sure we provide enough space around other users so we don't collide with them or slow to a safe speed.

We've been lucky so far on TH. Others on MUP have not been so lucky:

Serious events on multi-use paths.

Let's all enjoy this great trail safely.

The speed limit signs weren't effective at Terry Hershey. Riders pretty much went as fast as they wanted. I like that park but it is not a good place to train. Plenty of walkers, dog walkers, etc.

I’m not sure why anyone would consider THP a place to train or go fast. It’s a high use MUP connected to dozens of neighborhoods. It’s a recreational area.
I use it to bike commute but I’m not going that fast.
GBP & roads in Cinco & fulshear are for training
