If it takes you a lot of time to simply swap out a cassette, you're missing the finer art of owning a bike, unless you're just savoring the experience. On the other hand, maybe I should be looking for a 'cheap' trailer to tow behind so I can carry all my 'cheap' parts with when I go riding because surely they're all going to fail.

Here's another good deal that I couldn't pass up. I reuse my links (a lot) until they don't 'snap' any longer because I rotate and wax my chains almost every 2 weeks because of the miles I put on them. Just can't resist a bargain for the parts bin.
If anyone has a good source of inexpensive 11spd chains, please share it. Thanks, Smokey

I've been running cheapo Chinese cassettes on our tandem for a long time, not ebay but Amazon, probably no difference. They've worked out fine, haven't worn faster than anything else, shift fine, etc. For that money I'd try one. As said above, it takes like 15' to swap out a cassette. If it works out fine, you made good wages. I dunno. My cassettes never get chewed up by the chain. They mostly work fine. True, they do wear but over thousands of miles. Nabobs of negativity.

The cassette arrived today and I have to say I'm quite impressed. Yes, it is an 11spd and came with all the loose parts pictured. The 9 smaller cogs are screwed together with Phillips head screws, not riveted like most cheap cassettes and freewheels so you could take it apart and replace individual gears if needed. I wrapped an 11spd chain around it and the fit seems good. I'll report again on the shifting at some point in the future. For 9 bucks and free delivery I feel like I scored. Smokey

However, they are able to make items for a certain price point. Even using the same factory sometimes.
Sometimes it doesn’t matter. I got a bunch of $1 Lithium batteries for a camera years ago that were 100% as good as the $40 ones the thing came with. Other times, it’s total junk, as stories in this thread have mentioned.
That extra money is quality control.
$9 vs $40 just isn’t an issue for me, since I’d only be needing one. For others, this might be a totally different equation.
