Are Paramounts pack animals?

Is it just me or are Paramounts pack animals….

I picked up a basket case ‘69 respray in November. I built it up and thought this is a keeper. In December I saw a ‘73 frame that had been redone with additional braze installed and then chromed. Had to have it. I moved most of the parts I put on the ‘69 to the ‘73. I was then thinking to keep the ‘73 as a racing setup and build the ‘69 with a triple and an eventual respray. As I was looking for the parts for a NR triple setup I ran across a ‘71 Cool Lemon P15 that was almost stock (has a Rally RD but everything else is stock). So I bought it. This one was also my size.

So now I have three 24” Paramounts hanging out in my garage.

Pack animals, yes, can't have too many, fantastic gets all around, great work.

The Rally maybe original to the 71 or specced for it, Schwinn would make anything happen.

I agree. I used some rubbing compound and wax in a couple of spots. It’ll polish up nicely.

You can't have too many of these. And that Kool Yellow example is absolutely striking.

Look at it this way: You've taken care of the Prugnats, the updated P13 geometry, and you now have a P15. Find a Paramount Sprint and you'll have the complete set

Agreed, impossible to have too many Paramounts! My '71 Kool Lemon is one of the last ones with Prugnat lugs, yours must have been later in the year when they went back to the Nervex.... well done!

B7150, February 1971... still with the Prugnat lugs

Yes mine is later, December ‘71. Yours turned out great. I read the build thread earlier today.

It’s a fine line between “Paramounts are pack animals” and “I’m a pack rat with too many bikes”but they get so lonely. I think it’s weird to have just one, though I can manage to find a pic of only one at the moment. I have three:

1. A 1973 P15 frame only, painted completely black with a bunch of additional braze ons I’d like to have removed. No chrome remaining on the head lugs, fork ends, or stays. Not sure yet what color I’ll have it painted but Kool Lemon or Campus Green are my leading choices.

2. A 1975 or 76 P13 complete bike, everything Campy with dented top tube that I haven’t had time to refurbish. The dent isn’t too bad and I acquired it for dirt cheap.

3. This one, a 1972 P13 in full chrome. I ride it regularly and it’s awesome! My regular enjoyment of this one keeps the other two languishing in the shed while I divide my time between so many other C&V bike projects.

Maybe the 1972 P13 can let the 1973 P15 borrow some chrome . . . .

I wish they’d just mate already and have half chrome babies.

Beat me to the punch

My fave is that chrome beauty, but those chromed Prugnat lugs are trying hard to steal my heart away...

My '71 P13 was built in March and has the Nervex lugs. I didn't realize the transition time from Prugnat lugs was in this time frame. Thanks for that tidbit of history.

Your three are stunning Paramounts. I'm suggesting you look for a Waterford example next!
