Put on a set of MKS AR3 pedals with toe clips. Talk about finnicky to get your shoes into.

Tango 1-

Ditch the nylon straps for leather. The nylon is too flexible and non-self-supporting so it collapses the opening for the shoe and will not stay stable.

More drinking (and cheese eating).

Had this bottle left over from last season's L'Eroica. The baron did not disappoint:

I run oldschool clips and straps on all my bikes, can't stand or ride clipless, hate the look and have a crooked ankle.

If you switch to leather zefal/christophe straps, they hold their open shape and make it much easier.

Thanks for the tip! I chose nylon as that was what was available for a reasonable price. I just can't see the justification to spend $120 for two straps of leather but I will keep my eye out! Amazon is finnicky and my LBS are not inclined to hold stock for older bikes.

A successfull day for the Colnago Master I bought with serious problems.
The framebuilder in charge asked how to go on with his job.

And later that day I succeeded to get a correct useable Gilco look-alike tube for a very reasonable price!

I already had in mind a normal round seat tube would be okay, but this is very nice, I'm really happy.

Cost on the Christophe leather straps is about $12 not $120.

The zefal straps on efbay are only about $12-20.

One of the best values in all of cycling imo and they go hand in hand with MKS Sylvan pedals that are also a huge bargain.

Also get the buckle close to the pedal body and put a twist in it inside the cage to keep the buckle there where the pedal will keep it sticking up instead of flopping over so you can get your foot in more quickly. You want the strap loose enough to get your foot in but tight enough to keep the shape that helps do that.

Once you get it setup better you will get the hang of it and you have to practice to get good at it, especially when you are faltering or in traffic/chaotic situations.

I've shared this picture elsewhere as i just pulled it out of my attic -- but todays C&V goal is to get this old rig cleaned up, -- the dim lighting does not showcase how incredibly filthy this poor bike is by my standards. Ive got plans for it, but for today - just the clean up will be enough.

Another shockingly cold day today -10 early in the morning here in Fairplay got sunny and did warm up to about 30 in the sun. So only went on short ride on the SS Nishiki now 45 years old frame and some of the parts wise stiill a lot of snow, ice, mud, slush and frozen mud.

Still winter in some places.

In some places pretty much Spring looking almost like summer still only 30 degrees or so.

I resemble that remark!!! The black Romic got its day in the sun with a Shimano 3x8 update and a massive 11-34 on the freehub means it will be the Johnny Cash. It will go everywhere man!

Presently sporting 700-32mm with lots of room to spare. Ride is great!

Thanks yous to Bill and Stuart!

Today I bought the last bits for my latest build, I took apart my Gazelle Champion Mondial from 1986 to swap the Shimano 600EX group for a Campagnolo Chorus group. Need to fit the chain and all the cables. Pics will be posted when it is all done.
