Weather was iffy this morning, so I ran some errands, and then rode 45 miles in the Italian countryside on Rouvy. 4k total elevation gain for a flatlander is tough, legs are feeling it tonight.

I decided to work on my climbing ability seeing that I have none of that here and bridges are just not long enough, so did another rouvy route. For some reason, I decided that gaining 2200 ft in elevation in 7.1 miles was a good idea. I was wrong, it was a horrible idea, but I did that, so I can mark it off my agenda. However, I did see where they had a tour of the Alps, so I signed up for that. 5 rides of varying distances between 18 and 25 miles, with all of them having elevation gain over 3800 ft, 1 is 4500-ish if I recall..... that might take a me a while to get to the finish line

Oh and my wife came into my bike room and said, you are not allowed to die before me, so just keep that in mind. I guess the 14 to 18% incline sections I was huffing and puffing a little too hard for her liking.

65km on my Dahon at an average of 27.5km/h. Great speed from a folding bike. Amazing what decent tires can do for you (just put Continental Urban Contacts on it last week and they're excellent).

42.6 KM (sounds so much more impressive than 27 miles) with a fastest time for my age group on one 1.75 KM segment (Averaging 50 KPH) - downhill of course). Then slowed down and enjoyed the sights.

21 flattish miles at 18.6 MPH with a nasty headwind and threatening showers on the return trip. Worked my butt-off and just got a little wet, sweat aside.

And it was indoors.

Not. (No time for pictures with rain showers all around me)

What seemed to be a nice day early on, became crappy and raining as I was getting off work, so instead of taking a ride on the Domane to get a long ride with the new handlebars, I decided to install the new bars I bought for my Emonda and then take a ride on Rouvy. 45 miles and 3100 ft of elevation gain. Weather is supposed to be perfect tomorrow , clear sunny skies in the 60's, and winds less than 10 out of the North.

no kidding on the poor weather. seems as soon as the roads are "rideable" a random snowatropocalypse blows in, & then the cancer trucks puts trip hazard amounts of "icy road treatment" all over the place. The cycle just is never ending.
I'll roll in the somewhat cold, but slick, salted, poorly maintained roads & nutty drivers are too much to deal with.

what a weenie whiner. I, OTOH, would never attempt to ride if half of the nasty conditions you do because I am the real weenie whiner!

topping ya both (and the multitudes) by far. gotta be close to 68 degrees for me to even consider, much less actually, ride. small caveat...dial it up to the high-90's if necessary.
won't be mountain climbs at that temp tho. def some foothill climbs if called for. okay with the hott stuff.

Got in 55 today, the sky was beautifully blue and no clouds, temps started in low 60's, I was actually cold at first, but it warmed up to 75 and the winds were light, but steady. My legs definitively felt the climbing I did last night, as they were a bit sluggish today.

Took a pic looking over the intercoastal as I was heading toward a park at the beach.

mashed 31 miles in the breezy 28F somewhat clear weather. used the degrading cygolite 1400 & cygolite 350 one last time before I put the magicshine 1500 & cateye 450 on full-time duty... wanted to get the RN3000, but it wasnt available when the 1500 was acquired. Will keep the old equipment for the 'just in case' times in need.
