Wow!, that is an interesting Peugeot you have there. At first I thought it was one of those Vitus 979 bikes that was redacalled by Peugeot to sell as one of their bikes back in the mid 80's but I think I see some details on your pics that says it's not a Viuts 979 frame. It looks more like something that Peugeot produced in-house as the did in the later 80's when they sold their Galaxy and Comete model bikes built with the French aerospace industry developed "Pechiney" dry tube connection system where I think the tubes are connected to the lugs by wedging and forming the ends of the tube to the lugs with pressure and maybe heat(?) but no glues/epoxies to bond them together. At the least, the "Cosmic" name certainly seems to relate it to the Galaxy and Comete bikes. Thank you for posting lots of pics already, but a few more showing the frame tube/lug intersections clearly and close up will help us figure out better what your Peugeot is all about. Can you post up some more?

Hi Chombi, thanks for answering. As I can find this Peugeot is "Cosmic"model for europe's market 1987( similar as "galaxy"and "comet "for american market ). Has a Pechiney aluminium tubing . I was hoping that someone could tell me more about numbers on frame . It look's like no 0001 produced ? What it is worth , concidering everything , the best DURA ACE rear DRL ....![](https://bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=268746)

Wow again!, I did not notice that 0001 number in your pics. If that is a production serail number, it could mean that it's either the first one off the production line, or a factory prototype. It is interesting though that there seems to be another set of numbers on the non-drive side rear dropout. Which one really denotes the production serial number for the bike is a mystery to me. Are there any numbers on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell too??
If indeed this is a first production bike or a prototype (which might also explain the weird mix of Shimano DA and French components on it), then it could be very desirable to some C&V Peugeot/French bicycle fans. Forum member "miamijim" knows a lot about C&V Peugeots. I hope he replies to this thread too. Maybe he can give best light on what this bike is all about. As for value, hard to say till more light is shed on what it is all about. As you noted, components seem to suggest significant value.
Just a note though........you do know that the Galaxy and Comete were both recalled here in the US and maybe Canada (Not sure if the same happened in Europe) because of some reports of failing frame joints and the dealers were instructed by Peugeot to give the owners replacement Peugeot bikes of a different models (steel most likely). The retrieved Cometes and Galaxies were then supposedly destroyed (sawed up) by the dealers. Fans of the bikes think that the recall was just an overcautious reaction from Peugeot. Still, enough of them seem to have escaped the dealer's guillotine and pop up for sale at eBay. They can command quite high prices in NOS or close to mint condition. IIRC, something like $400+ in some cases for NOS.
