Not your bike, the one we were originally looking at. It actually appears to have something like a 28mm tire. I'll bet that a 23mm would, as in your case, have *enough* clearance.

Clearance schmearance!! who needs it, this is what a really tight rear triangle looks like!

The chainstays on the TSX range from 400 to 406 depending on size, 406 being the larger frame. The proto is 400 and the Rigi clocks in at mear 370ish

Vintage Raleigh Competition road bike - $50 (Apollo )

condition: fair

This Raleigh Competition is early 70,s with 12 speed close ratio gears. . The frame is 23" and has been repainted dark blue, and has a chromed fork. The saddle is a Brooks B 17 leather. Crankset is Shimano Dura Ace. Derailleur is Huret. Pedals are quill style with toe clips and straps. Wheels are 700 c with Campagnolo hubs stainlees steel spokes and tubular rims. The tires are tubular ( sew ups) and are old. ( they hold air ok but will not last long).
This bike was ridden thousands of miles and ,as you can tell , parts were replaced with whatever was available where they broke. All it needs for the next thousand miles is new tires and the saddle needs oil.

ATM the next bid is $730, but is (I'd assume well) under the reserve.

I bet the ride is pretty harsh - but tires might improve it noticeably.

condition: good size / dimensions: 53 cm

Waterford RS-14 S&S Coupled Road/Touring Bike

Geometry:

- Seat Tube: 49 cm center-center, 53 cm center-top
- Top Tube: 53 cm effective horizontal
- Head Tube: 14 cm end-end not including headset cups
- Chainstay: 42.5 cm

Frame Specifics: 1 1/8" Head Tube, 68 mm English threaded BB, 27.2 mm seatpost, 28.6 mm clamp-on front derailleur, spec'd for Medium Reach (47-57 mm) calipers. Fender eyelets front and rear, rack eyelets rear.

Components:

- Frameset: Waterford RS-14 TIG Welded with Lugged Flat Crown Fork. S&S Couplers factory installed at Waterford.
- Headset: Chris King
- Wheelset: Handbuilt at Harris Cyclery- White Industries Hubs Laced to Mavic Open Pro rims. 32 hole. DT Swiss Spokes. Ultegra skewers
- Tires: Grand Bois Cerf 700 x 28
- Bar: Nitto Noodle 43 cm x 26.0 mm with Brooks Leather Tape
- Seatpost: Nitto '65' 27.2
- Stem: Velo Orange 9.5 cm x 26.0 mm
- Shifters: Shimano Dura Ace 9 Speed barcons
- Rear Derailleur: Shimano Ultegra 6600 Mid Cage. This is technically a 10 speed derailleur but works perfectly with the 9 speed drivetrain.
- Front Derailleur: Shimano 9-Speed Triple 31.8 with 28.6 shim
- Crank: Sugino XD2 Triple 170 mm with 48 tooth big ring & square taper BB
- Cassette: 12-27 Shimano 9-Speed.
- Chain: Wipperman Connex 9 Speed
- Brakes: Shimano BR-650 Medium Reach 47-57 mm with Kool Stop Salmon pads
- Levers: Tektro
- Pedals/Saddle: Not Included

Condtion: Well used. Lots of patina in the form of various paint chips, most notably on the top tube, seat stay, and chainstay. Included is a fresh bottle of Waterford touch up paint. The rear hub has a light ding that does not affect function. The ideal buyer is someone who wants a unique handbuilt travel bike and understands this bike is not pristine and doesn't mind touching up the paint. The bike shifts and brakes perfectly. The wheels are true. The frame has no dents or rust issues.

Located in Watertown, MA. I am willing to ship this bike anywhere in the US for $60 flat rate via FedEx. Paypal accepted.

Here is a pretty cool restoration project. Pre war Paramount:

VINTAGE PRE WAR SCHWINN PARAMOUNT FRAMESET

I am thinking about it myself but am a bit daunted by trying to find all those proprietary components.

Its a Pista frame not too much to track down, You just need a nice older CampI crank and bar and stem. Old HF Nuovo Tipo tubular wheels are pretty common and would look great on this.
