I use automotive motor-oil on my chains whenever they get noisy, you can often get partial bottles or cans of it and garage and estate sales for ten-cents to fifty cents. Dust seems to collect on the chain, then of course it gets on my calf now and then. I never worry about it, but if my wife sees it on there she will wipe it off so it does not get on the furniture or bed. I never take baths, and almost never shower, I just wash here and there using a wash-cloth. Bathing and showering often is very bad for your health, especially for those living in cities where the water is chlorinated and fluoridated. Quit bathing and you blend in with nature, flies will not be able to find you because they home in on the perfume in soaps and shampoo, birds and rabbits etc. will come close to you and you will have an easier time bagging them for supper.

Cycling can be messy and dirty. As someone who spends a fair amount of his saddle time riding in the dirt, I'm certainly not opposed to getting dirty. It is still no excuse to get grease on your leg. However, since you apparently put the wrong foot down to stop, and mount/dismount on the wrong side of the bike, I can see why it's an issue for you.
I dismount equally on each side.
A kid I ride with gets multiple ring marks on each ride. She is 17, been road riding for 5 years, and her leg is a mess after each ride. It's an ongoing joke. She gets them before even riding, sometimes.
She rides at least 2000mi each year and is training for an ironman right now, so clearly not a newb. Her left foot unclips at stops.
There is no right or wrong foot to use when stopped. There is no right or wrong side of the bike to mount or dismount. For CX?...sure. But for general riding or road riding?...nope.

I keep my left foot clipped and my right foot hits the pavement. Been thst way for years. Can't remember the last time I got a ring mark.

I occasionally get the old chainring tattoo, but it washes off with soap - which I will continue to use daily, recommendations to the contrary notwithstanding.

funny, I am left handed and left footed, but my right foot unclips. I always figured it's because my body likes my more dominant leg to start the pedal process.

I unclip left and right willy-nilly. What's wrong with you one-side-only weirdos?

Interesting. I think you are on to something, I write, kick and throw a ball with my right but do virtually everything else with my left limbs. I’m even a goofy foot skateboarder and throw a frisbee with my left. If I played guitar I would be a lefty. I unclip with me left foot. I feel like my left is my dominant side.

I'm right side dominant in everything, and unclip the right one, the left one.
