The Sun came out.
Enjoyed a nice 5 mile ride.
Been working on a bumper rack for the trike.
Need to rip the long piece for the rear wheel. then bolt it all together.
When finished I will be able to transport two trikes. One inside.

Welcome to 50+, and back to cycling. I wouldn't sweat the distance, I went for a grand and glorious 2 miles, on my first several rides, after 10 years of surgeries. There are many here that have/are overcoming more than I could dream of surviving. The distance and pace will come to you, just don't get discouraged because of your first rides. This group of folks will be as supportive and any you could associate with.

Thanks for the greeting; from now on I'll only use this thread to talk about my rides

We had our first significant snow of the season over the weekend. I just got back into cycling about six months ago after a 40 year hiatus. I've made a fair amount of progress over the past 6 months and don't want to give that up because of an accident. I think I'll be sitting out pedaling for a little while.

The rear derailleur cable housing broke away from it's ferrule binding the cable and won't shift. So while I'm awaiting a new cable housing set to arrive, I'll be riding the hybrid. And after today, I know why I don't ride it for more than 10 miles. Did 22 miles this morning, with my buddy Steve, trying to keep a 15 mph pace. Between the shoes sliding on the platform pedals, missing shifts with the grip-twist shifters and threaded tires, it just wasn't meant to be. Good ride overall but I do miss my road bike.

Nasty out this morning but the sun came out in the afternoon so I took the Allez out for 11.6 miles. The hands are still hurting but I just had to go out for a ride. And I love this bike.

Very nice night up here on the 45th, 31F and calm. Had to pay attention for black ice when days are thaw temps and night can freeze up. 50min ride with hills.

My regular 25.5 miles this afternoon, cloudy skies, but very little wind for a change. It was kind of chilly out, but nothing like what you guys above the Mason-Dixon Line have to put up with, nor was there any snow, much less the amounts seen last weekend.

With our wet & damp-ness I've been riding the fendered bike more than usual. In dry weather it's fun to ride a different one every day of the week, but I had forgotten the joy of riding a bike so regularly that every movement, every shift becomes 2nd nature.

Today was a beautiful day for a bike ride. Temps in the lower 70s with lots of sun and blue skies. I got a little bit of a late start this morning for the scheduled a 37 mile ride I was planning on. But since my road bike is still out of commission and the wife didn't ride this morning, I opted to ride her trike instead of my hybrid. Didn't get the 37 miles but I did get a very fun filled, 25 miles riding the trike. The more I ride that thing, the more I think that I can get really used to riding one all the time.

14.8 miles on the Roubaix 32° at the start of the ride, but clear and sunny. Can't keep this old re–cyclist down for long.

Still dealing with the aftermath of the Blizzard. Spent 2 hours digging out the car yesterday. I'll be relegated to the trainer for the near future. Did 21 pseudo miles around an interval workout today. I'm glad I tuned up the trainer bike last week. Shifting is sweet with the new cassette and tuned ders. Almost makes the road to nowhere bearable.

A wet ride this afternoon, but I did manage to get my entire ride in. Not as cool as it has been, thankfully, 63°F, and a light SSE wind. Not to bad, just had to adjust my braking points.

Just around 5 miles running errands. Felt good though. Except coolish temps in the 40s are tricky to dress for. With a t-shirt, loose weave cotton pullover and windbreaker I'm sweating in less than a mile. Makes me wish it were either colder, or warm enough that I didn't need the windbreaker.

Cold and gloomy this morning so I took a mostly sunny afternoon ride on the trike Drove over to the bike path, unloaded the trike, then realized I had forgotten my cleated shoes. Dunderbrain! There is a reason why my head and other body parts are attached or I'd forget them too. Reloaded the trike, drove home, changed into a lighter shirt under the bike jacket and traded the mittens for gloves. 10.2 miles at an average speed of 12 mph In 47° weather. I put some padding inside the mesh seat yesterday and it makes for a little more comfortable ride.

Around 12 miles on my favorite rural route Wednesday evening, including a stop at the halfway point for some infrared photos. I need to get started a little earlier in brighter sunlight to get a proper IR effect.

I rode my commute today for the first time in about 2 weeks. Finally had roads clear enough of ice patches. It was great to be back on the bike!

I started out this morning with sunshine, 35°, but it felt colder when it clouded up. 14.8 miles on the Allez. I miss the summer sunshine but I don't miss the heat.

A bit chilly, and it was overcast, until about an hour after I had finished riding. Managed to work in another 25 miles, it was much needed after yesterday's rain out as the cold front came across.

Just got in from a night ride in a snowstorm. Only 7.2mi in just under an hour. Very windy and a good rate of snow. Fun ride.

Yes, rode to work today for the first time since mid-December. I’ve lost some fitness in the last month, but it sure felt good to be back on the saddle.

Was able to get out for a 9-mile ride after work this evening. Barely 40 degrees but mostly dry - felt great!
