British Classic Bike Info Request
Happy sunny Sunday. Before I head out for my likely last fat bike ride of the year, here is an info request. I was contacted by an enthusiastic fan of British bikes who was wondering what this bike might be. I had some thoughts but told him I would post on BF for better feedback. The BSA crankset points to Birmingham Small Arms and I believe they also made frames. We were both interested in the 4 speed freewheel rear hub with a fixed gear flip flop. Any thoughts to share with Rod would be appreciated. He should be signing up in short order!

frame -
readers might be able to advance the discussion if you could include images of the head and fork crown as seen from the side
also images of the bottom bracket shell
odd that dropouts are without eyelets while fork ends display them
perhaps they were removed prior to the present respray
the D/S hub looks like it might be from S-A
the integral headset is something which was quite common on British cycles at one time

Difficult to tell without bigger and better pictures as well as additional information, such as a serial number. The bike has clearly been 'restored' at some point in time, so parts may not be original. The seat cluster is the only thing I see that may provide a clue to someone. The location of the pump pegs suggests 50's or older.

That head badge would tell the tale. Post a photo of that.

it is simply a Union Jack transfer with no writing
mounted after the latest respray
best to place little weight on it
---
regarding the chainset -

BSA was a manufacturer of both cycles and fittings
many non-BSA bicycles were manufactured with BSA components OEM
so even if the chainset is original to the cycle it may or may not be a BSA bicycle
---
tip -
serial number placement and format can be a helpful clue in the detection process...

Here are some additional pics of the BSA bike I am currently working on. Would really like to know the model and original frame colour so I can try to match as closely as possible. Thanks.

Can't wait to see the results! I will dive into online serial numbers to see if can find anything. Does that read 2960 or 2960 11, I wonder?
