Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

What beer goes best after a race?

I'm a fan of a Murphy stout because that heavy body (heavier than Guinness) is what switches me from pumped-up/on to chill-out/off.

Delirium Nocturnum lately, but I'd still kill for a Mackeson Triple Stout.

if only i could get this here on the east coast...i have a friend in santa rosa, so......

actually, anything works, but preferably nothing from any of the macro-corporate breweries.

anything belgian, dutch would be fitting.

I'm a big fan of a good porter after a race but any good brown ale will do, usually it's something from Middle Ages, the local brewery that my team is sponsored by.

If you're going to insist on a Belgian beer, this would be my choice (for me -- not for anyone underage!):

Going with the kid on this one. I know Chimay is the bigger name, but I had big bottles of Chimay and Duvel at Rockburn. The Duvel was hitting the spot with a sausage and onions sub. Still, either Delirium or Brasserie des Rocs Grand Cru are better than Chimay or Duvel IMHO. (I think this debate needs more fact investigation.)

I haven't had Duvel, but I think I can count on my thumbs the number of light golden beers that have impressed me. But you're right, more research is needed.

Anything from River Horse has been hitting the spot lately, especially the Lager and Special Ale. Usually it is either Narragansett Lager, Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold or even Ballantine XXX Ale.

Duvel is heavenly, It's only light and golden in color, it's 8% or so. It's one of the few beers I can't find anything wrong with.

After a race however, I chug water and eat food. I've been off the drink for a while, but I have a Tripel I've been cellaring for a while it's my gift to myself for racing this season.
