Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

WTF is happening to roadie outfits/brands? more flashy more expensive?

I see so many ppl riding in Pas Normal Studios jerseys and bib shorts, however they look completely tasteless.... just big white letters (they could use comic sans font as well....) on the back, no style at all.
Rapha started following the trend, before there was smaller 'rapha' logotype in a nice looking font, now 'rapha' logotype is bigger and in a few places and with tasteless font...
Is it just to show off that you paid stupid money (looking at PAS) for your outfit ?
(I'd understand if there is 2x difference in performance etc. but there is non at the end, comparing to few other a bit more expensive brands (like Castelli or Sportful).

I say, just buy whatever is cheap and fits. But, if you enjoy dressing and feeling fancy - that is fine! Nothing wrong with that. I certainly enjoy that when I'm off the bike .

I've been a collegiate and then sponsored athlete for my entire cycling career so far, so I've only used what was cheap or free (to me). Generic stuff, Pactimo, Champ Sys, Voler etc. It works fine and I just can't bring myself to spend $$$ on kit. I'd rather spend that on bike components!

Here's an idea...Wear what you want. Spend you own money as you see fit. If you don't like the way something looks that someone else is wearing, don't buy that thing for yourself.

Look at Neo Pro for less expensive clothes. There are others, look for sales. Or, if you just want to gripe about what other people wear, carry on.

Bought a jersey and shorts from Neo Pro and have to say that for the price, they made very good apparel. /They also have frequent “sales” but they are often out of my size.

But agree, wear what you want, pay what you want and ignore everyone else as long as you are happy.

"The Black Bibs" is another good cheap clothing company. Stateside customer service and inventory which is nice. Very little marketing budget so the price point is attractive.

I have some stuff from both NeoPro and Black Bibs - good quality that hits above their price point. I've also found a lot of good kit on sale/closeout from Pactimo, Le Col, and La Passione at pretty attractive prices.

I was going to poke fun at the OP for proverbial brick throwing, but then I decided to Google what this PAS Normal stuff was all about. Holy crap, that stuff is expensive...but undoubtedly necessarily attire, when you're connecting coffee shops, on your crabon S-Works or Madone SLR whatever. For me, I'm a cheap %@$%(with a taste for only moderately expensive crabon bikes,) so I just wear whatever's affordable or free. In my case, that's generally mid to high end bibs that were on sale and Black Bibs jerseys. I do have some cheap bibs, I save those for short track XC/dirt crit style races. I figure a cheap bib is good enough for a short race, and I won't cry over it if I rip it in a crash.

Just when I thought it was safe to go outside again, now I have to worry about the fonts on other cyclists' jerseys.

I'm confused: is the OP upset that some cyclists wear flashy branded riding gear, or are expensive clothes the problem?

Either way, I'm wondering if the OP just fell to Earth from some other planet.

What does the PAS stand for? Maybe that's where the mystique comes from.

Hopefully the OP never sees any of the countless road bikes from 1985 thru 2018 with no fewer than 6 brand logos on the frame and fork. Their mind might melt.

It doesn't stand for anything. The company is Pas Normal Studios. PAS has been incorrectly used in this thread.

It seems to be an issue with the font...and a judgement on how some people spend choose their own money.

After looking at their collection and reading the descriptions for each line, Those famous words of Roberto Duran come to mind.

It stands for 'not', in French.
So - Not Normal Studios.

Say it like 'pa norm all'
