Bike Friday Question

I am going to be working on a friend's BF. Has anyone had any ex with the handle bar assembly? At first glance it "appears " that they might be 2 separate pieces? Would like a little background beforehand.
Thanks!

I had an ex who had the handlebar assembly. I don't know what happened to it after we broke up.

Most of the Fridays I've worked on have a split handle bar. The bars used little pins to help locate them within the stem and WRT to each other. Andy

There is some bolt there where the stem grabs the handlebar and when you screw it out the two halves of the handlebar detach. Some twisting to get them out may be required. Generally it is better to ask folding bike questions at the Folding Bikes Forum.

If like mine, the handlebar is split to ease packing into a suitcase. The handlebar halves slide on and off a sleeve and the stem bolts used to tighten any handlebar are loosened for disassembly. There is a center screw that should (or need not) NOT be messed with but is for centering purposes on the sleeve. Mine is a late 90's NWT which I just packed up for upcoming tour. I have a manual I could take pictures of and send to you if you like.
