...and yesterday's ride. It was done on my XC mtb, but only because there was more snow than I wanted to deal with the gravel bike...these are roads and logging roads that I normally do on the gravel bike.

Great thread. More, please. It helps to pass the cold, rainy, snowy, gray days. I hope to add some pics of my own when the weather breaks. Although there are some tough acts to follow here. There are so many fantastic pictures.
Cheers,
Scott

Looking over downtown Los Angeles, with Catalina Island on the horizon. It was a beautiful and warm winter day in So Cal.

the dirt and gravel roads might be a little soupy though (if it dips below freezing overnight)

California is going to get hit with a series of storms, starting today. This weekend's riding will probably get washed out. I'm worried about the Rock Cobbler event on 2/10. I really don't want to do it in the rain. I'm also camping at the venue the night before. It could be miserable.

I need to buy an atmospheric river / bomb cyclone bike so I can keep my gravel / rain bike clean. I should not have dithered before buying the Stigmata 3. If I had acted sooner I could have got it in gloss brut, which blends in with light wet mud, instead of gloss lavender, which does not.
you mentioned the obvious solution - another bike
we often use vintage MTBs for crappy conditions - but often reluctant to get them filthy

What Santa Cruz calls the golden tan color.
Thanks!
I don't have any MTB. I guess I can upgrade my FX2. Regardless, it is a fine line between nice enough to ride generally and too nice to ride in the wet.

The Rock Cobbler (Bakersfield, CA)...
In the distance, there are cattle. We rode right through the herd.
One of MANY walking sections.

I know this is several years old. But, mstateglfr , do you remember where this bridge is? We already have two trips planned for West Central Iowa this summer. Might be able to squeeze this in as a waypoint?

I finished in the top 20% for the distance I rode (43/255). I'm pretty pleased with that. There were some moments of real fun, and some moments of suffering, doubt, and defeat. I've done longer rides, in both distance and duration - but this one was the hardest. This is the first gravel event I've done where I'm not sure I want to come back next year. That said, I'll probably have a friend ask me to join them next year, and I'll probably agree.

Yep
The snow finally melted after Friday's storm, so took a nice little ride along the Mississippi River today near Hannibal, MO where my brother lives.
