Just got this in today. A 1965 Moulton four speed. Spent the day cleaning the original paint to see if I am going to leave it original or modernize it. Checks out good, suspension all working, trainling fork is not too rusted or cracked, all bolts are not frozen, frame is straight, wheels are straight, but a couple of dents, chrome shined up nice.

Seller forgot to include the stem bolt so I had to use another quill for now, and am converting it to drop bars.
Thinking Lauterwasser bars so that I can keep the original bar brake levers.
Any other road bars that can take the small diameter levers?

The layout on this bike is much closer to a road bike than my Mercier or Allen sport folding bike. The wheelbase is 43 inches, so it's pretty smooth riding. Just got the seat, bar, wheels, chain on, so took it for a slow test ride before hooking everything up.
Will assemble it and then decide what I want to do with it, keep it original or entirely rebuild it with modern components.

Yes, it is a Kirby (K in the serial, 65xxxxx), so checked out all the joints and everything looks fine. I’m lightweight, so hope the trailing fork will hold up fine. It has for all these years.

Love that this is the bike that started the whole mini velo trend years and years ago.

Anyone else have the old F frames?
I like that the rack comes off this one, so you don’t have that long bar sticking out the back.

This is my 1965 Huffy sold Moulton 4 speed. Nice riding bike. Mine is slightly modified. I am about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and the bike has no problem with that. Roger

More modern Weinman brakes and Crane Creek pads. They need to be long reach and I happened to have saved a set. I think these were from a Schwinn or Raleigh. Tectro makes some that would work. Also used a newer aluminum crank with Look touring pedals and bottom bracket. The shifter was the hardest thing to find as mine was broken. The tires were the most expensive parts. Some day I will find some aluminum rims and relace them for the bike. Roger
