Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, but there's hundreds of tea parties and coloring books and pink bikes with handlebar tassels to enjoy first.

I don't have that issue. My pups run to the door, wiggling and waggling, excited for my scratches and loves. Every time. Meanwhile, I need to hunt down the humans in the house to let them know that I still exist. Sometimes they acknowledge me.

tbf, Rango's 14 1/2, so 1) he's seen it all and 2) he's earned the right to continue sleeping.

Gotcha. My old pup is about the same age, but still has moments of bouncyness and joy between his naps. For him, my arrival also signals that he will be getting fed soon, which is likely what he's most excited about.

Based on my experience, I expect that your current perspective on many things will be challenged during your parenthood journey.

Last night, Rango and Dory were outside, and Rango chased Dory in, and leapt over the 3 steps from the ground up to the door, galumphed through the kitchen and the foyer back into the living room where he proceeded to jump-spin for a minute or two. He's not 100% clear on the whole "old dog" thing.

I have all the wrenches, so it doesn't matter to me. Also, Sram loves the torx so there's plenty of bolt head diversity in the rjones28 fleet.

Since it's going to rain tomorrow some friends organized a road ride this morning. Chasing the same people on the same route as we've done many times before, I declined. Friend called me a putz for not going. I've been called worse.
Instead I took the old bike and climbed the same old hill behind the house. Usually I do it on the mtb, today I slid around a bit. For some reason 25s @100 psi don't work well in sand.
3600 feet in 30 miles. I'm thinking about a nap.
