Nail Polish OK for Paint Touch-up?
I have a 2007 GT road bike, CF, painted, with a couple spots where the paint has scraped off.
Poor quality pic but I included it because pictures always help!

- Is it OK to use fingernail polish? I expect the drug store will have silver and white as well as a hundred red colors
- Also, as long as I'm learning, are any chemicals to be avoided around CF? Like acetone?

There's "perfect color match" and there's "not exactly". "Not exactly" draws your eye to the repair and generally looks like poo-poo. If I'm trying to protect a scratch area, I just clear over it. Unless you can buy or blend a perfect color match, I think that clear looks better.

Trek tech support advised me that nail polish was the preferred fix. You're putting a type of lacquer over carbon fiber and epoxide matrix - the solvents in nail polish shouldn't do any damage.

Yes you can use nail polish on your CF . You can mix some to get the right color and put a clear coat over that .
