Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CO2 supplier suggestion

I'm wondering if anyone has a link to a place that sells co2 cartridges in small bulk quantities (maybe 6 or 12) at a reasonable price. I hate spending $3.00 each on these things. I'd be looking for 16g threaded cartridges. Thanks.

Can we start a pump vs co2 war ? Pump air is free, with no garbage to throw out.

For the small non threaded ones-->go to the walmart sporting goods dept and get a 10 pack of co2 for about $8 (they use the same cartridge in bb and pellet guns

For threaded ones, these Zefal are a good deal too, 10 of them for about $16--->https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...2_529135_-1___

When it's 95 and humid, stuck of the side of a busy road with no shoulder, or dropped on a fast group ride, there's no limit on CO2 value

i have been told that the airsoft ones actually have some oil in them to lubricate the guns, and that this oil can eat/chew up your tube causing it to wear out faster.

not sure if this true, just what i have been told.

+1...don't know if it's still true (haven't used up my order of 30 yet), but it was cheaper to order directly from them, rather than through Ebay/Amazon even though it's the same company. Not much cheaper but...

https://hackaday.com/2008/12/31/refil...o2-cartridges/

looks like the link is long dead on the blog, but why not try to find something refillable and more useful?

edit:

Hows that?

I usually find a seller on ebay who will sell a case or less for very reasonable prices.

Thank you for the information. Red Rocks looks to be a great source. I just ordered 20 and hope I never use them.

Uhhh, you sure about that?
The ones made for BB guns have oil in them, to seal & lubricate the gun gas valves. Oil is not something you'd want inside your tubes.

If you can find some "food grade" CO2 capsules,,,,,, they are dry CO2, with no oil.
