Good to know. I have a small collection of Le Col stuff, and I've been very happy with it, but I've run out of things that interest me in their offerings. La Passione's current sale prices were very compelling.

I've turned so many riders in my group onto La Passione and the only complaint I've ever heard was about the socks but I've never tried those.

I'm not a fan of the La Passione mesh baselayers that I bought. They are noticeably warmer than I'd expect and one tore at a seam after wearing it a few times.

Tires on my Domane are looking close to retirement age and will need replacing in the near future, but I like the look of the Pirelli P Zero Race TLR Classic versus the black sidewall I have now. These have been very good tires and I have a little over 3K miles on them at the moment, but figure they will be done by the end of the year. I had a credit with LordGun so I went ahead and picked these up.

So I was selling a handlebar and stem from the same group year, but I was still using the seat post. The dude wanted it all and made me an offer I could not refuse, so I needed a new seat post. I was looking for a Ritchey single bolt, but I could not find one in stock with the set back that was not going to take 2 weeks to get. So I opted for the Bontrager RSL 27.2 350mm seat post. Should have it Friday.

I just got my first road bike on Saturday (Fuji Sportif 1.3 Disc), but my most recent purchase was yesterday. I heard about the Garmin Varia RTL515 tail light w/radar. This thing is amazing! I am not sure I would ever want to ride out on the roads without it!

I love how it picks up multiple cars behind me (up to 8). It works so well. On the app, I got notified and saw 3 cars coming from behind me. Each car is visible on the radar at its relative speed and position to me. I highly recommend these!

Now, I just need to figure out if I can get the Garmin app on my phone to also notify my Apple Watch, so that I get some haptic feedback whenever a car is detected. If anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know!

Just keep in mind that when you are riding paved roads, there really isnt anything you should do differently when a car is approaching or passing. The best thing for you to do is be predictable and maintain your line. Yes its nice to know whats happening behind you, but just like driving a car- you staying consistent and predictable is safest.
The Varia becomes really helpful on gravel roads where you ride all over the road picking the best line- a car is picked up on the radar and you then have time to move over to the right and let them pass without disruption. Its also really helpful on country roads and county highways where there is less traffic- just being notified helps pull you out of spacing off and makes you aware.
With that said, I am not saying its worthless for city riding- I have one and it stays on whenever I am on any type of road. I actually like it for busy roads because the flash changes tempo when a car approaches, so I like the idea that it helps drivers pick me up in their visual due to the change in light timing.

You are going all in on this, very cool- a Varia isnt usually the type of purchase one makes when they are dipping a toe into cycling!

This is great perspective, and I love how you mention consistency. Yesterday, I wasn't on a gravel road, but I was on a road with regular but sporadic pot holes on the right side of the road. So, the Varia came in handy as I knew not to swerve to the left to miss the pot holes. If a car is coming and I am about to ride into a pothole, I will be aware to take a different action, like possibly just pulling over to the right shoulder and waiting until it's safe to proceed.

I also have a low-profile mirror arriving tomorrow. So, that should also help.

Just curious, what are the negative factors? I have the Viz 300. I do wish it was USB-C compatible, but otherwise I am pretty happy with it.

battery life isn't to what I'd require for long rides. I carry a second tail light, which is not something I want to also charge after each ride. I could probably make it for two rides, but that doesn't reassure me that it'll be bright & functional unless I keep my eye on it after a certain point. Around by me, you need a bright "to be seen tail light" if you don't want to have a high chance in getting run up on by a motorist.

USB C would make it very convenient, as everything else uses that for requiring a recharge.
