You tell me, Could this be a Giant? Looks like an early atx ,but no brake pivots. It has
German Thun cranks, and when I found it for $15 it had a set of '30s Philco brakes.(?)
It was painted black. I took that off to find yellow. underneath that the original paint
is a speckled blue-black.

Not sure if that all helps.
My Sedona ATX is black with blue starburst/fireworks on the front. All black starting about 8"/20cm behind the headtube.

I was inspired by post 19 and Arrowana's claim that the ATX 780 was the best bike ever. Found one on C-list with no fork. Found a Trek fork that fit perfectly, then went to the local bike recycle shop and found some DX shifters and brake levers. Then a new wheel and new cables and, yes, best bike ever!

seljohs, that looks like a really good no-nonsense bike. And the fork looks perfect, as if it is original. The drivetrain should last a lifetime, too. Do you ride it mostly off road or on road? If you ride it on the road, try some smooth tires. You'll love them.

Back in the days, Giant had sent me their 92 brochure. Remember spending endless hours drooling over their ATX 760 and 770. The latter winning some kind of award.
Later on i found out about the CADEX line which further impressed me. I have a clean 1990 ATX780 frame i stripped out for parts and here are my
1990 890i limited edition (stock)
1992 CFM1 (stock and gone rigid with the original fork instead of the Rock Shox Mags)
1993 CFM1(custom build) and CFM2
And the quest continues searching for the elusive 1992 ATX770 and 760s

I have never considered my Giant to be vintage before but at around 20 years old I guess it certainly could be. Mine is a rescue bike. It was sad and rusting in someone field. It's a Sedona ATX frame that I built up from various parts I have scavenged and added over the years (Shimano LX, SRAM grip shift, Mavic 231 wheels, platform pedals etc.) It's my daily commuter and I have to add that it's one heck of a bike. It's bombproof, comfy and soon to get a Northroad handlebar.
I'll go grab some pictures.

True. But Giants don't get enough love here, so I'll throw in another one.
Another Peloton Superlite. Bought it because it was offered to me at a friendly price, and I felt I needed a triple-butted bike.
Alas, it was too big for me (a rare occasion), so it went to a co-worker with even longer legs.

Okay, I'll plug in my CFM 2. This was a sample bike already in the territory when I became a Giant rep so I hung onto it and made some changes.
I also got one of the polished ATX890 frames that I built up with a Girvin fork and stuff. That one got stolen but I got it back after being tipped off that it had been brought into a local shop. Helpful hint: type up your bike's description, with serial number, to have on you to display to the police officer called on to mediate your reclaiming of your bike. I had it on paper in my wallet but these days it would be in Notes on my phone.

Pedalin' Erry Day
Bumping this thread with an '94-ish Allegre (would still like to find a '91 frame in blue in the same size, if anyone has a lead on one) I picked up. All stock save for the rear mech. I'm going to be restoring and doing some mods to this bike, so this is the 'before' picture.
