If I were to add one more Schwinn to my collection it would need to be a Paramount OS. Thanks for posting this.

Very nice Schwinn with Dura Ace 7410 , I was thinking back year ago about a Schwinn 753 Reynolds and at one moment about a Schwinn 853 Reynolds anniversary frame but the overall cost would have been way out of my budget.

Schwinn was at the top of their game here. Beautiful lugs, bike and color. Too bad they didn't chrome the rear chain stay like in earlier models.

Thanks for posting this, I found one of those frames sitting in El Paso on eBay a few years ago, built it up, and it’s as the article states.
Anyway, took it to the Waterford last ride this past June, Marc Muller was kind enough sign the frame, and pose for a pic, his son is the guy in the middle, and I’m the dork on the left.

Yeah, I’ve got a 7410 group and the most recognizable differences are the crankset, seatpost and pedals, and this bike has none of those. I couldn’t remember the date they came out but IIRC it was only a few short years before 7700 and that came out in 96.

7410 also had the dual-pivot brakes.

Interesting to note that these were built at Waterford before it became Waterford. It’s less interesting to know that I’ve been around to watch the whole business arc: genesis, operation, and closing, of this company.
Geez, I feel old.

'89 would have been the introduction of 8-speed Dura-Ace via downtube shifters, the one-year-only Uniglide 8-speed freehub+cassette, but still single pivot brakes. 1990 was a big year.
This article was very intriguing to read as I have a 66cm '89 OS Paramount. It is very light by steel and 66cm standards. It also is not a noodle. It keeps its rigidity when in and out of saddle, but is not at all harsh. It is very balanced. We will all have different preferences for how we want bikes to ride, but regardless of those preferences, you cannot fault the OS's in my opinion. I'll be keeping mine.

I have one of the PDG versions of this and while it's not quite the same pedigree or quality, it's a very fine bike. Coming up on 30 years now!

Yes, 1990 was when the dual control levers were released but it was still just 7400. It was either 1993 or 1994 when 7410 was released. I remember buying the group and then 2-3 years later 7700 came out.

Seat tube: 52cm C-C. Top tube: 54cm C-C.
Not a Waterford but a Panasonic OS Paramount. Not my size by a long shot (I ride a 60cm). And finally, not mine.
I recently bought a used refrigerator for the garage. After a couple of weeks, it stopped working. The fellow who sold it made good on his word and brought a replacement. He spotted my bikes and asked if I knew anything about Schwinns. He then told me about this 1992 Paramount OS Series 7 PDG. Today he left it with me to evaluate what needs service and replacement.
Overall, it is in good shape. The biggest replacement need will be the 600/Ultegra 8-speed STI levers. Both of the inner paddle levers have broken. Also, the new tires are stiff and heavy Kendas and are not performance oriented.
I'm guessing, but the bike is too small for the current owner, and he will want to find a new owner. So, it might eventually end up in C&V Classified.
Finally, a closeup of the serial number reveals the typical grime, but the paint is in great condition after 31 years.
