After a couple months on the trainer, the first time I took the Canyon out on the actual road again, the brakes were not only 'hooty', but also didn't work for ****. I turned around ASAP and swapped bikes. I ended up sanding the pads and cleaning the rotors with isopropanol and all was well. The next time that happened, instead of sanding the pads etc. I did a series of sprint/brake repeats till the brakes stopped hooting and started stopping. It seems to happen if the bike has gone > 1 month without being ridden, or if it's ridden on the trainer.

Sweet. Did you drive through Custer State Park and/or Wind Cave National Park? Saw lots of bison when I toured through both in the same day in 2015. How about Needles Highway? Rode by Crazy Horse on the Mickelson Trail. Rushmore was crazy crowded. I nearly lost an eye to a selfie stick. Didn’t get to Badlands though.
This trip, upon first sight of the Badlands, I got upset, thinking "why the hell didn't he bring us here?!" I mean, we went to friggin' Wall Drug, literally a 10 minute drive north of there, but skipped the Badlands? Felt so cheated.

My short term memory must be failing. I don’t quite understand why there is a different threshold between a 10s and 11s chain. Might be a conspiracy by big chain.

Nice pics Low cel.
man what a change today. Was unseasonably warm this morning, like the last 4 days. Started raining during the night. Wet dreary all day. temps are falling. It's like instant Fall. Leaves are hurtling themselves to the ground. My maple trees were green 3 days ago and are practicly flaming with color now.

My mother does that one... what kills me is the word list combined with a feeling of "gotta get 'em all" which makes it a frustrating time suck. Wordle is in-and-out.

I've never measured a chain. I've never even picked up a chain checker. The chain on my bike has been on for over a year, so 6-7K miles. The cassette has to be at least twice that and the rings were on the used crank I bought a year+ ago. My mtb has the original drivetrain from 2018 and it looks pretty bad.

I started wondering about the 10 vrs 11 speed spacing. .3 mm different. But now apparently I am going 11 speed on the trainer machine.....? I remember seeing an add for a Rival long cage derailluer and a force 22 right shifter...... I am easily influenced apparently

I had that a lot back in the 80s but I rode through snow, rain, etc. and ran the chains until they were as loose as could be. My LBS blamed it on salt water at the time because the rollers would be galled and then would crack.
