Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

LHC might just be a weirder place than Needles.

HRV is still showing up low. I don’t get it. Garmin continues to say I am stressed and or fatigued and or strained. I am none of the above. I’m wondering if it could be bruised chest wall?

I know this isn’t a big deal, but I would like to know that it’s actually working.

It certainly could be stress from that injury! Also, the model includes your baseline and you haven’t had the gizmo that long.

Is it giving you nice continuous readings? If not, you may have to wear the band tighter.

It made me feel old.

I have never used HRV but my suspicion is that it’s a measure that should inform your status/activity but not dictate it. I would hope how a person feels would matter too.

With both UAE Tour and Omloop today (plus another stage race in Spain), I really miss GCN+.

Brunswick is about 6 hours SE of the NW Metro Atlanta area. No big deal I don't frequent convenience stores.

On our way to Carlisle on the PA Turnpike I did notice a billboard for Buc-ee’s but it simply read “582 Miles”. Actually 5xx miles I did not pay that much attention. I am thinking not worth driving the extra 8 hours each way.

Yeah, but that chunk of time might not have been typical for you over the long term.

Me too and even then it’s not really reliable for exercise readings, particularly in the afternoon for some reason.

When running, it’s usually dead on for me, riding is different. It must be hand position or something.

Last night I was way into Z6 power and it was throwing 80 bpm at me.

Yup. I suppose we could start going to the senior center to feel “young” but .

Nobody tried to kill me on my ride last night!

Had some issues with my seatpost slipping so I didn't get to do as much as I wanted since I had to stop thrice to adjust and retorque it - just did two Paris climbs at around FTP.

Going down the second time I was descending really well and felt like I was on my way to a PR until I got stuck behind someone in a car

Furman University with Paris Mountain in the background:

Downtown Greenville from about 1/3 the way up:

New theory: My recent hip/pelvic region flareup woes are at least partially caused by the ferric caboxymaltose injections.

Discuss.
