Any stationary/upright/“cycle” bikes with built in programs?
Looking to buy our first stationary/cycle bike. Want something that automatically adjusts tension to simulate varied terrian. So we don’t have to fiddle with a knob while riding
Are there any makes/model that do that with built in programs? Or do any bikes that adjust the tension for you require a subscription service? Don’t need a bunch….just a couple programs
Replacing a cruddy old Golds Gym recumbent bike we have had for 15 years. And maybe paid $125 bucks for. It’s one saving grace was it varies the tension via magnet to similate hills. I just assumed that was a standard thing now but I haven’t found a single one. Need to be “upright” now. That’s the only reason it’s being retired
thanks in advance!

I can think of quite a few brands that would offer such a bike e.g. Schwinn, LifeFitness, Matrix, Kettler. Do a search. I had a Kettler Ergoracer a long time ago that would fit your description and we have a Matrix U50, which would definitely work for you, but very expensive.

I would say your best best is a commercial unit from LifeFitness from the 90s or 00s. They're build to last, the electrical systems are simple enough that nothing in them will fail and can be quite affordable on the used market. It's hard to predict prices but I've spent less than $200 on commercial LifeFitness equipment from Craigslist sellers. The only downside is that you have to plug them in and these have some gigantic transformers. Other than that, amazing product.
