Want To Buy: Campagnolo Chrome Headset

Want To Buy (WTB means "Wilderness Trail Bikes")

Want to Buy: Campagnolo Steel headset for 1980s Colnago frame. It does NOT need good threads*, as I am using with threadless stem and fork. To be honest, I probably don't even need the top locknut.

I have an aluminum Record threadless headset, and it just doesn't look right on this frame.

* I will be machining the threads out on a lathe, to convert to "threadless".

No chrome spares, cold dead hands and all that.

And also pretty sure WTB was Want To Buy before Wilderness Trail Bikes came along.

And IMO, alu HS never looks right on anything remotely C+V.

Someone should be along shortly to help out.

Thanks
if you are going to machine away the threads...
any Campagnolo headset should work.
English and Italian threading only vary by inclusive angle of the threading and French is just .4mm smaller- all other interfaces the same.

not going to be easy to machine, the part is hardened.

You are correct. Hopefully my grown up tools can do this more easily than in the past. Circa 1973, Installing 27" Chrome Schwinn Varsity forks on a Sting-Ray required grinding out the inside of a top headset cone to slip past the threads. This was done with grinding stone(s) in a handheld Montgomery Wards drill.
