The joys of selling a cruiser on Craigslist/Offerup
I have a 1959 Schwinn Wasp. It's been on those two sites for a while now as no one wants to pony up 100 bucks for it.
I won't go lower than 100 so there it sits. I get probably 3 to 5 lowball offers every week.
At this point it's more of a source of entertainment than anything else.
The gift that keeps on giving

What's your bottom line?

Hey what'll you take for that piece of junk schwinn??
350.
Your ad says 100?
Oh ok, I'll take 100...
I didn't say I'd give 100, it's a piece of junk
Well, go buy a huffy.
I want a schwinn.
100 bucks

Obviously more than you're willing to pay.

And this is why I quit offerup, and I rarely, if ever, use craigslist. And eBay is no different, except the huge fees that eBay charges after a sale.

You used to be able to see the IP of the seller and the bidders as well as email addresses of the sellers.
Even paypal was more transparent.
Then Meg took over. Understanding that shill bidding made more money for sellers and for ebay through fees, she hid IPs and emails and set the stage for the evil that is ebay today.
I don't bid on anything. It's either a last second snipe or buy it now.

Although it is logical to price it at your bottom line and then say "firm", Americans shopping used don't like that. Price it at $125 and then be willing to come down to $100. It'll be sold within a week, because someone will have felt like they whittled you down and got a deal.
Also, don't be too lazy to talk it up and justify why you think it's worth $100. er, I mean $125.

I have too many projects or I’d pay you to just put it over the fence at a family members house.
I spent my teenage years close to where Service goes over the 99.
Dumb teenager, I actually threw a shopping cart off on Service and into a grain hopper train car as the train was passing through the bridge.

You can find some normal people out there on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, but certainly plenty of weirdos. I’m also into buying broken pinball machines and fixing them up, so the same nonsense happens with them.

Hey, I'll buy it for $100, but all I have is this money order for $900. I'll give it to you, you give me the bike and $800 cash, we'll call it even. Sound good? No? Sound familiar? Yup.
