Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My wheelset was a great upgrade with noticeable benefits and it pays off every time I ride. I'd say a wheelset is one of the best upgrades a cyclist can make to their bike. And yeah, no one asked about training.

So, if we don't "enable" the OP, he won't be able to buy new wheels? I feel so ... powerful.

Heh heh, yes, maybe kosmo886's credit card company would post in this thread and ask us if it should authorize a $3K charge for a new wheelset.

Also,
if your wheelsets only offer fleeting satisfaction, you must not be doing it right and maybe you shouldn't be giving wheelset advice. 10k miles later, I'm still happy and thankful every time I go for a spin on my current wheels - they were a fantastic upgrade.

I've had my nice (which means expensive) wheels around 5 years now. They still make me happy every time I ride them. I don't know or care what they save me on a 40k, I'm a sprinter. I'm faster on them when I want to be, and I enjoy better ride quality from them always.

for 3k you could buy 6 pairs of super team wheels. Those should last you until the end of time.

Quantity over Quality.

Nobody seems to have paid any attention to how you phrased the question.

Chris King makes a number of good wheels, ranging from about $1200 to $3K.

My humble aluminum ones are in the avatar.

i did. On his other nearly identical thread

Not much better than Yoeleo 50-60 mm with DT 240 at $1200

I bought Farsports 55mm S6 Ventoux S recently for $1700. Best value in a very, very fast wheel, in my opinion

Reynolds makes very good and very good value wheels, too. Swissside is another.....fast and reasonable. Good hubs unlike Zipp garbage hubs

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

By all economical measures, a $30,000 car is economically better than a $100,000 car. But, it's not nearly as enjoyable.

That's what hobbies are all about. Being a bit frivolous as a welcome escape from the grind of everyday life. That's exactly why people have nice bikes, guitars, photo gear etc, etc. A high-end wheelset is just about the best upgrade you can make to your bike. Training advice is a totally different discussion and not mutually exclusive.

Dude - what are you, some little kid? I see that you went crying for help against us "Freds" in another subforum because your unsolicited and poorly thought-out advice wasn't well received. Grow a pair.

let's cut it out. Yeah, I made a snarky remark in the racing forum. But I'm not a troll and I don't hang around to stoke the flames. I have my opinions and folks have theirs. You're not convincing me I'm wrong and there's nothing I can do to change anyone else's minds on the matter. Drop it

Maybe he was looking for a hype man. Even if I agreed with his argument, that's crossing the line.

I’m pretty certain after some extended time frame a 100k EV becomes more economical than a Camry
