Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hard to tell without seeing the offer. Is he paying you first?

But then again I was risky and bought a car sight unseen (except for pics) and paid 10k +1k shipping upfront. When it arrived, it was appraised right there on the transport truck all dusty and dirty for 2.5 x more than what I paid.

Okay I don't know why I said that about the car, I guess I just wanted to point out that not all buyers (or sellers) are scammers.

CL is generally best used locally. That being said, he may have just googled and found your listing. I've only shipped once over CL, and it was a good experience, here are my guidelines (some borrowed from eBay).

1) Must have a phone number, and I would suggest talking with the person on the phone
2) Verified paypal, verified address. This offers him security and you.
3) Ship with sig. confirmation (should be included when shipping)

Have him pay with a USPS money order. I've done this in the past with buyers I was a little worried about.

I live about 20 mins from hartford and go to east hartford every week for the training race my team runs.

If you need a middleman, I can take the frame there and do the transaction if you need me to.

PM me if you need help with anything.

I'm not free this weekend, but the crit still goes on for 2 more weeks so that should give enough time.

I shipped two things from CL lately, both went fine. As long as they pay me first with Paypal, I don't really care.

Almost every time I post something to CL, I get someone asking me to ship the item and I tell them that if they pay my paypal account, I'll ship it. They never reply.

I just posted something on CL the other day and had a guy outside of my locale ask if I could put the item on ebay with a "buy it now" pay option so he could buy it that way. I did it and he promptly bought it. Perfect.

You could offer that pay & ship arrangement.

OP, if you need a person to handle the transaction, I can make the sale if you ship me the frame and then paypal you the money or send a money order or whatever.

PM me when the time comes and I'll give you my contact info to help things go smoothly.

Yeah, I wasn't racing that day but decided to go hang out and heckle CDR, my teammates, and others, and someone pulled a real bonehead move in the A race. Like ***** that you wouldn't even see in a 5 race.

I ran over with a first aid kit and CDR was on the ground not moving. He's the freaking man, so it was really a bummer to see him like that.

One of the guys who had pretty bad road rash and stuff walked away while I was trying to bandage him up. What a badass... It was ridiculous. I gave his teammate some bandages and told him take care of it. I was just in awe...

Not the guy I would ever want to see something bad happen to.

He's definately in the "pay it forward" club

Likely a scam, but not necessarily. I got an e-mail offer to buy my Litespeed from someone 500 miles away. He sent the e-mails in his own name, included address and phone numbers in them, agreed to send a cashier's check issued by the same bank I use so I could verify it was legit, and it all went very smoothly. I did cover the shipping cost as part of the back and forth bargaining.

This is a 100% copy-pasted scam. Gotten it a few times myself when selling some stuff on craigslist.

Absolutely no doubt. Scam.
