...man, I really had a great time racing. Despite my really bad technical skill, I like this sport!

We just broke another US/perhaps world record.
Alpenrose Cross Crusade CCX- 1,393 racers. Probably had the largest women's field on record too.

Thanks Hida! We actually revised the numbers upward to 1,438 too. Here's what's really cool:
142 Beginner Men
92 Beginner Women
43 Junior Men
116 Cat B's (equivalent to Cat 2)
53 Women B's
126 Master B's 35+
186 Cat C's (Cat 3)
189 Master C's
79 50+
127 Single Speeds
9 Unicycles
(That's not all the fields- for a full list see here)
I also got quoted in Velonews. WHOOT.

I said it last year and I'll say it again-unicycle cross...no.
It's a bicycle sport. Next thing you know we'll need a recumbent category.
Slim. I just registered for this weekend today. Still room register now. You will do well and most likely beat me. You looked strong out there yesterday.

I asked my wife if I could start cross racing. She didn't say anything. Instead, she went to the closet and started packing my stuff. I took that as a, "no."

A local race a couple weeks ago had a cruiser category. It was funny watching guys ride up and down this steep bank on cruisers.

Good....that's what I was going for. Hopefully you guys realize that was a little tongue in cheek.
Actually I had plans on doing the cheerleader kit this year but never got around to it.
Someone had a cruiser tandem out there last year for the state championships on December 7th on the shores of Lake Michigan. That....was funny.
I got destroyed yesterday in the first official race for me this year. I didn't get to race with most of the guys I am used to racing with, I didn't get to hang around for a beer, and I was so farr OTB that the hecklers were targeting me. I deserved it ....but wasn't feeling the cross mojo so much at the end ofthe day...
...especially considering I had completed the last crit of the year just an hour before and in spectacular fashion. Road high, Cross low. weird day.
At least Slim cheered me on!

was practicing my dismounts on a gravel trail. left foot didn't click out and down I went. Nice bunch of bruises and scrapes. I slid for a while on the damn gravel. I think it must have looked funny.
