Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Helmet Cam Vid

cdr- this one's for you- used two cams, picture in picture.

https://www.vholdr.com/video/portland...m-p-1-2-race-0

Note: this is probably the worst race I have EVAR had. I'd call it an epic FAIL. But- I had the cams on so I figured might as well post for shts and giggles.

Also of note- the power values are the peak values in each of those sections.

Tried to import into racechrono so you could get realtime power, hr and speed but was never able to import it correctly. If anyone has any ideas, shoot me a message.

Interesting. I take it that was compressed, since it doesn't seem to be full HD. Are there higher res settings? Quality is a lot nicer than the Archos 604 helmet cam I have. That's a good price point for any helmet cam, much less an HD one. Can you show me what helmet mount you use?

I think the rear facing cam isn't all that beneficial because of all the vibration. I think the last one you posted didn't have that much vibration. maybe a rougher road surface, unless you mounted it differently.

I'm sure if you rode in higher traffic areas long enough you would get some interesting clips of people taking chances with your life.

1. Awesome video
2. I hope you figure out how to display real time power/speed/heart rate as that would be awesome to see
3. i dont think the rear facing camera is necessary.

Nice, the power seems way off, Unless you are really heavy. Or maybe I am not seeing the elevation and wind right. Or maybe those are burst readings.

The rear camera was really not required.........but I found it entertaining watching everyone come up behind you and then pass you. Next time WARM UP so we can watch others be dropped as you pass them

Wow, now i realize how far back i truly would be.

Those power and speed numbers were very impressive eventhough you got smoked.

That camera is great, should be standard equipment!

Hey don't be so hard on yerself. After all, you were weighed down by all of that camera gear!! Don't even get me started on parasitic drag either.

Cool vid. Having never raced (or likely never to race), I appreciated the POV. Thanks for posting.

Nice video! two thumbs up! I love videos that give stats or commentary while the video is playing.
Always wondered what kind of speeds people are doing in crits along with how much power they are generating.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to be working on a more stable mount (with less vibration) The camera for the front is a VholdR Contour HD and the rear camera is the regular VholdR.

I will definitely warm up next time- it sucks when you prepare well and leave early, only to have your plans thwarted.

Power is correct- those are pretty much peak in those areas (if you notice, the higher numbers are almost directly after a corner)

Jynx. I like it a lot. Check out the videos on the vholdr site. I kinda like the look better than the go pro.

Second Mouse- big crowds. More than last year- so I was very pleased.

thanks for filming, and for posting.
No shame in getting blown out the back of a P/1/2 when they are warm and you are cold.

Are you going to do any cross vids?

That was slicker than owl-poo. And the best part is we didn't have to hear Phil Ligget & Paul Sherwin stating the obvious in insulting fashion.

Trivia moment: Bryan Adams was asked to write the accompanying score for Top Gun, but declined, stating he just couldn't muster up sufficient gayness.
