Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone Ordering From ProBikeKit Lately?

I was wondering if anyone has ordered from them lately and to find out if the problems have been resolved on the credit card fraud? I'm looking to place an order as I’m a little reluctant because the problems in the past? Also have you guys been hit with customs fees coming into the USA?

I ordered some pedals a couple months back, but I am using one time credit card numbers on all of my online orders now. I didn't have any problems and may order some tires from them in the next day or so.

How are you using a one time credit card? Also can you share with me how to go about getting that?

Thanks

I ordered yesterday and the dollar amount was correct on my statement if that's what you're worried about.

Yes- lots. Just bought 4 pairs of Sidi shoes from them.
No customs fees. Just foreign exchange fees from the cc.

No, not the dollar amount I'm talking about. I read on threads before they had problems with credit card fraud with the company that does their credit card transactions. So I'm just wondering if that anyone had that problem recently. I ready to place an order, but I'm being a little cautious.

No issues from PBK. I've placed several orders with them over the past few weeks.

I just ordered something two nights ago. Besides the currency exhange fee, PBK is by far the greatest online bike merchant I've seen. Even factoring in the small fee, you're still saving tons.

I'm not sure that PBK ever admitted fault, but there were a lot of posts here earlier in the year from people who had been stung when buying from PBK and Ribble.

But there's risk wherever you go. I've been buying from PBK every month or so for years and never had an issue with credit card fraud.

yep, pair of sidis a couple weeks ago. Used a "virtual" credit card number, which is a service offered by my card issuer (citibank). No issues with customs.

Well, I'm going to call PayPal and see if that is offered on my PayPal debit Mastercard. I'm going to place an order on some pedals this weekend.

If anyone can tell me on the one time credit cards please let me know. I would rather deal with getting one now than deal with issues later!

Thanks

Nashbar has had similar issues. They even went as far as to offer some sort of token discount or store credit to people they had been able to identify as having had their CC numbers compromised. Do a search, you will find it.
I suspect it was my Nashbar order that got my number lifted as the last PBK order was almost a year before it happened, but the Nashbar order was only a month or so.

Just received my order today, no problems at all. I've ordered from them about 10 times in the past 6 months and had no issues. Best part is if i forget something I can just order it the next day and not care about shipping.

Anyone else notice how high the price got on the Continental GP 4000S's?

They were at $48 yesterday, today at $43.

I ordered some earlier this year, like March, and they were under $35. Is this because it is the middle of the season? Currency values? Hmm, that seems like a huge price increase.

If it was Nashbar, I ordered about a week ago, received my product, and haven't had any problems...I'd suspect they've fixed any problem there was by now

i've never had a problem with PBK. My cc was compromised from a purchase at Nashbar, confirmed via my bank. Might want to also read this thread below:

It's all about nashbar....
