Bright front light that mounts on aero road bars?
Do people have recommendations for a bright (~1000 lumen or so) light that mounts well on aero road bars? I've formerly been using Magicshine lights, but they don't mount very well on my two better road bikes, one of which has Easton EC90 bars and the other which has the Canyon integrated CP10 cockpit. I can post pictures to illustrate the problem, but probably some of you have dealt with exactly this and found a good solution?

What about a mount like this that uses the existing handlebar fasteners?

Lezyne's lights use a typical rubber ladder-strap mount. The way they're set up is that they have an adapter block for round bars that slips over the ladder strap, but if you take that off, it's got a flatter surface for fitting on top of aero-section bars.
I like the idea of a light that uses a gopro mount, but in most cases, this would invert the light, and if the beam is shaped at all, that's counterproductive.

Check Outbound Lighting. They make separate light/battery modules that may offer more versatility in mounting on flat top aero drop bars. The light head unit weighs less with the detached battery, so it may be easier to mount securely without looking like too much of a kludge.
But you'll need to mount the battery pack elsewhere and route the cable. Probably worth the effort for a good light with proper beam pattern, dispersion and cutoff pattern.

The Lezyne light has a mount for attachment to the handlebar hardware.

Correct. That light accepts a wide range of input voltages and has a long cable that could be wired with a connector to a battery pack.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. The Canyon bars have no visible hardware - just a place for two bolts underneath that allow an upfront mount for my Wahoo - kind of like this picture (though this is Nairo Quintana's Movistar bike from last year, not mine). So I think what I need to look for probably is something like a GoPro mount that allows the computer on top and a light below. For the Easton bars, there are conventional stem bolts out front that could be useful.

I'm OK with mounting the battery elsewhere (generally under the top tube). I do that now with the Magicshine lights.

I may have found what I need for the Canyon. I'm not sureif these are available, but if they are, I can mount my Magicshine MJ900. It would take one of these
https://www.racewaredirect.co/shop/w...nc-canyon-h31/
or similar (e.g., https://k-edge.com/shop/computer-mou...s-combo-mount/)
paired with one of these
GoPro adapters and Gopro mounts for bike lights
Checking availability...

Seems like all you would need to mount the MJ900 on top of aero-section bars would be a bit of plastic or rubber (or wood, or whatever) cut into a crescent-moon shape to fill in the void between the bar and the light's base. Someone with a bandsaw could probably fix you right up.

For bars with a conventional stem, I've been using this inexpensive one that I got on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SSXGZ1H I've got it holding a Cycliq Fly12, which is a pretty heavy light/camera combo.
Edit - this is it with my EC70s -

That looks nice - and not too expensive. The light mount is GoPro style?

is probably too flimsy for the extra weight of a light.
There seem to be only a couple of hobbyists making mounts to convert the Magicshine to a GoPro mount. If I can get my hands on one, I won't have to buy another light. If not, then I can get any light that mounts to a gopro.

If you're set on using GoPro mounts, another option to consider is Cateye. They have an official accessory that allows you to mount most of their front lights to any standard GoPro mount.
The adapter is actually part of their Out-Front Bracket 2 accessory, though they do list the part number but I'm not sure if you can obtain that part separately.

First off all, if you get a light with a proper cut-off, 500 well placed lumens are more than enough. I'd recommend the B&M IQ-XE, it's an e-bike light that accepts inputvoltage from 6-48V, so you can attach a range of battery packs there.
If the sky is the limit (moneywise...) , you might look at lupine, the have a nice set of the SL-AF with an proper adapter for canyon aero bars, and you'll have plenty of light...
If you want spent less, you might look at adapters from raceware.co.uk (as you already discovered), also take a look at hidemybell (https://www.closethegap.cc/product/c...h36-h11-ready/), the also sell just the part that attaches to the stem/bar as spare for 10 Eur, and it has an GoPro mount. Outbound Lighting offers also a outfront GoPro mount, and their Road Edition is quite a bit cheaper than Lupine (and still does pretty well, i have both...)

Huh, I didn't notice the weight, in-hand, but I was def looking for something sturdy when I bought it, anyway, for my light/camera - my Cervelo stem has the mount slot on the faceplate, but the compatible mounts weren't rated to hold more than a head unit. How much are the K-Edge, and the like, weighing in at?
