Altus c 10 front derailleur question

Hi all.

I recently picked up an old Univega hybrid and I'm in the home stretch with recon but I've hit a snag.

Front derailleur I'm using is a Shimano Altus C10. I've never used this 1

before and I think I'm clamping the shift cable incorrectly.

Anybody out there know this derailleur and can tell me if I'm clamping it right or if I need to wrap the cable differently around the bolt?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

look closely at the clamp and you'll see a little groove. the cable needs to wrap over the top of the bolt and rest inside of that groove before you tighten it down. that way, also, the cable will stand more away from the derailleur body

The cable goes over the tab, not under it.

Yes, looking from the back, the cable should go to the left and over that tab, with the cable exiting the cinch bolt pointing directly outwards to the drive side, as the picture by thook shows. You'll then need to either snip that cable end short to prevent contact with your crank arm or bend the cable end to face a different direction so you can leave a little more in place if you prefer.
