FWIW I have a century tomorrow. Sunday looks wet but if dry I will do another 50 mile recovery ride.

I hear you about elevation. Less atmosphere and usually less pollution. I take SPF 55 when I tour out west, and I’m not pale.

The tree guys are here. Large objects are falling on the roof and a huge chipper is running outside. The shouting is continuous. I think I'll stay in for a while.

While he reinforced much of what's been said here, I thought it was good and necessary. Some people only trust specific credentials (while others only trust what they want to hear) and he went over some aspects that I wasn't previously aware of (like the very real possibly/viability of daily spit-strip testing, if only we, as a country, would get out of our own way).

I love how these guys (and one gal) can take 1" branches 15' up with one zoop of a pole saw. They're also not wearing eye protection. When I do that I'm rubbing sawdust out of my baby blues all day.

There was a 40' oak with a base of 4.5-5 feet across the street, down one house. Two Saturdays ago I heard chainsaws, and then the usual branch shredder truck showed up. When he showed up, the saws stopped, and I noticed a pick up truck was parked sort of diagonally across the street. The chainsaws started back up, and I was lucky enough to be outside when someone yelled, the truck shot backwards, and the whole tree came down. They made it go down between other trees, a fence, and some cars parked in the neighbors driveway. The tree seemed as wide as it was tall, and once on the ground, they made short work of that thing. I love just in time physics, and that was one of the cooler things I've witnessed.

We have an epidemiologist on the team, and he was imploring face masks from the very beginning. He even wrote a letter for me to forward to the powers that be, since I work for the Health Department. Little did he/we know that knowledge was out there, just not to be shared. Is there a reason there's not a lot of trust out there?

I put the Wahoo in a 20lb bag of rice in the ridge for a few hours. I just plugged it in and the charging icon popped up. Oh, you'd better not be teasing me...

As a sidenote, glad to see a 16 year old down the street that I am somewhat acquainted with becoming an active biker. He joined Strava and this last week did what I think is a 40 mile solo ride. Somewhat less enthused that there are new segments popping up everywhere nearby, which I think he is adding - or at least that is what I think is happening. He managed to grab a KOM that really should be flagged as it includes a fast downhill, through a partially blind stop sign - but idk, don't want take that joy from him.
If I have this figured right, somehow Strava actually goes back in time for any new segments and then indicates how many times you have done the segment, best times etc... It's weird when a new segment pops up and indicates you have done it 100+ times.

We live in a dense, 1930s, inner suburb, with small backyards. A few years ago they took down a 120 footer (can't remember the species) diagonally behind us. There was no space to let it fall, so a couple of guys cut it down, section by section, from the top with chainsaws, while suspended. Amazing work.
