Zwift is good for the social aspect, but there’s a lot to be said for structure. My biggest issue following the training plans is I want to go outside. This winter I plan to stick to the trainer unless I can do at least 40 outside.

I actually prefer to ride outside and will do so even on our coldest days (low teens F) but if the roads are icy I won't risk it.

It was pretty awful. I’ve had bouts of minor dizziness in the past, but never been physically I’ll. I have pretty significant hearing loss in my right ear with no known cause, my pcp believes that’s what causes it, especially when it’s allergy season and I get congested

Agree. But since most of my rides are group rides, the social aspect (or maybe just "accountability") seems to be a strong motivator to keep me on the trainer.

Yeah, I missed a LOT of rides the past two winters but really because of road conditions.
We seemed to be having a lot of nuisance snowstorms followed by daytime highs just barely above freezing and lows below freezing, which results in frozen runoff on the back-roads and the risk of ice scares the crap out of me.

It either gets resorbed or you acclimate to it. That's why usually vertigo gets better with time and/or Epley maneuvers. But like most things in life, it's complicated and the debris/crystals theory is probably only part of the story.

And now, after a good night's sleep, I can still barely move.

New helmet day
Helios Spherical is replacing a tired old non MIPS Giro Savant. It’s much more silvery in person than I expected but still a nice looking lid.

There’s definitely a relationship between having full sinuses and my bouts of vertigo- assume I’m getting fluid build up which exacerbates the material issue.

My preference is for group road rides, but I will often prefer Zwift over riding solo on the road. The interaction with other riders in real time - even in a virtual world - is more motivational for me.
