Great! Alas, I was stalling on making purchases, and they told me they had no site wide sale planned, so I already bought for my immediate needs...

No guarantee, of course, but it really does seem like they have a full site, 25-30% sale at least every 6 months, if not more often. They even had a 20% off on gift cards in November, and then in December had a 20% off sale that one could use the already discounted gift cards for! I hope VO can stay in business doing this- they seem to be the only (or best..) game in town for certain things..

Agreed, for sure. I kinda consider them my LBS, even though 25 miles away.

I presume that 3 weeks ago they genuinely did not know when their next sale would be.

There are always some things I want/need when the sales come along- and then I end up adding things I don't really need (but convince myself I will need.... someday...) that I add to the order to hit the free shipping. Most of the extras end up in one of the bike bins- but it's pretty handy to be able to say 'I think I might have one of those (extra bottle cage, cable set, bell, whatever...) in my bin......'

I hate seeing threads like this. I am sorely tempted to spend money on stuff that I don't really need. . . .

No kidding. And..... just like that my (already light...) wallet is $150 lighter......! All I really 'needed' were some Tektro RL340 levers for a build, but....OK, some fenders for another build......and this doodad and that doodad..... and, well, I'm not too far from free shipping, so...... I just hope the box arrives when my significant O isn't home!

Likewise...I ordered some timely items and some "get it while it's discounted" items. A set of chainrings to gear down the Stronglight 49D on Mr. ascherer's Motobecane, another set of Rando bars (only $28 after all the discounts!), and various bits like BB spacers, a bell, bottle cage clamps. Last time they had one of these sales I got a set of fenders to stash away. No regrets!

they have moved more often than I would have expected. Bigger space but sunk costs repeated.

I checked the fine print, an it doesn't say that the 30% doesn't apply to sale items...

I picked up my fender parts today. Its been 4 years since I was in one of their show rooms. Lots of cool stuff definitely but definitely "Classic and Modern" A couple of the new "Rando" frames where on display. I'm not sure what the all design criteria's were, but I'm assuming the 32mm with fenders, 38mm max tire clearances have to do with the available rim brakes. Incase any one besides me was wondering, this bike will not work with 650b wheels. The tire clearance is a key hole in the stays for 700c tires.
