Look up simple rattle can techniques, I really cant offer much help or expirence, Because my brother is a car painter, he paints everything of mine. Just to let you know some tips i've learned from him is, paitenece, Good ventilation, sand it to a fine smooth surface, Make sure you use good primer, Maybe self etching primer for resin, Keep the can a good distance for even coats of paint, Also make sure, You do a coat at a time, If you mess up once re start its paint its simple it comes off every time. Though white can be tricky to keep white with rattle can paint. Also clear coat might be (;

40 grit for nothing.

Just scuff up the surface with something like a 1000-2000 grit paper for primer. Carbon really does not like sandpaper. Wash and let dry. Then light coats of paint, according to the label on the paint can. Some require more coats, others less, depending on the chemistry.

General rule of thumb, thin coats.

Make sure you have a even surface, If not your primer wont adhear to the rim. you need to sand the rim perfectly level the whole way around, If not you might sand a section too deep and it will look wavy.

1. Remove tires and tubes
2. Tape up hub REALLY good so you don't get paint on or in it
3. Use a wet cloth and wipe rim clean
4. Using 400 grit sand paper to even out the resin currently on the rim and 4 spokes. (wrap the sand paper on a block with rounded edges so you don't create points of higher pressure when sanding)
5. Using a clean rag and water wash off any sanding dust.
6. Using a leaf blower or shop vac on reverse blow out your work space so there is no dust that could stick to the paint. Make sure to paint in doors somewhere if you don't want things to stick in the paint.
7. Spray a light coat of etching primer, don't worry about full coverage. Let sit until dry to the touch, about 10 minutes then spray another coat for a full coverage.
8. Using 600 grit sand paper again on a block lightly sand the primer so it is smooth. You will sand through it in some parts and that is okay.
9. Spray another coat of etching primer so that the wheel is again completely covered. Let dry for 20 minutes.
10. Spray on your first coat of white paint. Spray it enough to coat the wheel completely but don't let it drip. Spray in long straight strokes starting and ending off the wheel so you don't have any areas of higher build up. (I wouldn't cut corners on the quality of paint you use. Diplicolor or Prism are two of the better kinds.)
11. Wait until the paint is no longer visibly shiny (between 10-30 minutes), which means it is dry enough to put on a second coat. Again get thorough coverage without putting it on too heavy.
12. Wait again until just after the shine leaves the paint then spray your first coat of clear. Spray it as heavy as you can without getting drips. Practice is the only way to be good at this. Better to spray a little lighter than be sorry though.
13. Repeat spraying clear coat as they shine leaves the previous coat. I would say 2 thick layers of clear is plenty.
14. Expect to let the wheel sit a couple of days before it is dry enough to safely handle.

I would not sand my rev-x. The laminate is the only thing holding those things together in the first place.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see carbon weave through the paint when you're all done. I know on mine it's pretty textured. You should consider vinyl wrapping it instead. You won't risk any damage to the wheel and if you get bored with it and want a different color or back to normal, you can change it.

Also, if you have a front brake I would recommend masking off the machined part of the rim.

I wouldn't mess with it.

Painting between the blades with a rattlecan is going to be tough, if you are asking how to paint, I take it you haven't done much paint work before. If this is your first project, I suggest leaving the wheel as is and learn on something much easier, like a frame (which is still tough). Doing a good job is going to take a long time, a typical paint job takes me 20+ hours over a 2 week period. Plus if the paint reacts at all with the epoxy, your wheel may be compromised.

Also, the second you start sanding, the value of your will is going to drop down to nothing.

Do what Epic said, just use vinyl. Then you can change it if you want too.

Given the known issues with the rev-x i wouldn't want anything on the wheel that keeps me from properly being able to check the weave around the rivets. If you want color get a arrospok.Plastic is easier to paint too

If you bring it to a vinyl worker, The can make you a full map of the rim, One side each and the backs of the spoke, It'll be more expensive but worth it :|

Rattle canning anything is just a bad idea. Scratched up original paint will always be more appealing.
