I used to get rad

Damn, 40 years old.

Crazy to think about all the time I’ve seen pass now.

I rode a lot in the late 90’s early 2000’s and that’s putting it lightly. BMX was my life. I was on my bike every single day that an injury didn’t keep me on the couch, or in the hospital.

I even shipped my bike to Europe a few times to get in some killer street/park sessions abroad. ****, it was mega.

I was also lucky enough to ride with, get drunk with and generally party pretty hard with (cough, cough) some true legends along the way as well. Jay Miron is The Beast and it’s got nothing to do with the bike, although he was alright at that too. Hell, I was in an old Props Road Fools video, on the tour bus no less. Amazing times.

Anyway, I’m just an older guy getting a little misty-eyed about my younger days and all the fun a 20” brought to my life.

Pretty amazing to see the way things have developed as the years have rolled on. I suppose that’s just how it goes. Ho-hum.

Anyway, keep shredding. I’ll be cheering for all of you to keep pushing the sport.

That is all.

40?? You're just a kid!! I'm 60 and ride my 26" every day. Stop reminiscing and get you a cruiser. BMX for life, yo.

54 here, still ride a 20" on occasion but stick to the 26" most the time. I think a lot of us miss our early days of BMX, it was great fun and made some amazing memories!

Gents, let me assure you, I’m not lacking a bike much less an undying love for one. Still have a T1 Barcode from 2002 when they were in impossibly short supply. It will always be running.

The OP was born from having recently connected with an old riding partner. I was fondly recalling memories of times past (being a kid) and thought I’d share.

Not complaining about being “old” either. Merely opining about how much time truly does fly, especially when you’re having fun.

Fun is what bikes have always meant to me. I have had a sticker on my crossbar for years that says “fun”. A constant reminder that was always the goal.

Admittedly, my riding these days is largely on a fixed gear but my love for two wheels is vast. It’s a part of who I am and that is something no amount of time will be able to change

Same here — and the more you ride the younger you get!

You don't quit cycling because you get old.
