Replacing Old Shimano GripShift SRT-500 Shifters
The grip shifters on my old Trek 930 are falling apart. Can I replace these with current model Shimano gear? They are integrated with the brake ;evers - should I look to do something else? I would post pics but being new the forum won't let me.
Thanks

21 Speed, Cantis brakes. Doing some research online it seems that grips for these old shifters are not available. I was wrong about the brakes being integrated with the shifters, I took everything off the handlebar and made that discovery. Reading some old posts I found that the old inter-tube over the disintegrating shifter rubber works pretty well, at least for now.
I have a new handlebar and some new grips coming. Will see how well everything goes back together. If not If I am not mistaken I can use current Shimano grip or push-button shifters with the existing derailers - as long as the gear count is matched up (3 & 7)

They should be SRAM shifters (though Shimano compatible) and the brake levers shouldn't be integrated. So your post is confusing. If it's a 21 speed then any Shimano-compatible 21 or 24 grip shifters (including current SRAM MRX) or trigger shifter pods will work.
